Can anyone provide advice about what I can do with regards to the above?

My girlfriend took my car to a local tyre fitting place and had an already purchased tyre fitted to the car. She didn't really check the wheel afterwards, paid in cash, no receipt. I checked the wheel in the evening as four of mine are still perfect (rarely if ever park by kerbs) and the incompetant fool who fitted it has made a great big scuff mark.

As the girlfriend is using the car at the moment she took it back in today. First guy was fine and said they'd sort it out but then he got a colleague to look and they basically denied it was them.

Has anyone got experience of this? What would you advise I do?

Thanks in advance.

I think you just need to notch this one up on the experience chart mate. You haven't really got a hope of getting anything for it. I check my wheels whenever I have had anything done on them. I even try to do it when the guy is watching so he knows that people check and will take care in future.

D'oh, I had a feeling you might say that. It's really just the principle, I spoke to the manager who point blank refused to accept it was them, although he admitted it was clearly not a kerb scuff (I detailed the car on Sunday night so know it wasn;t there then). He said he couldn't believe I was complaining and asking him to fix the wheel, said my girlfriend was rude (when she couldn't be if she tried!) before just repeating my questions back to me in a child like manner. He refused to give me his name or head office address and eventually hung up. It was an almost comical conversation if not for the fact I was so angry about the damage he's caused.

The only thing to do is vote with your feet mate. There are some ****s in this world.

I don't know that I should name names as I'm sure they must do a good job most of the time - it's not any of the major chains or franchises, it's a more local place near to my girlfriends workplace in Farnborough.

Anyway, I found the head office address on the companies house website and have written a suitable complaint. Makes me feel better even if nothing happens. It's just the managers attitude that really riled me.

Well, one of my alloys was scuffed when it was at an Audi Main Dealers for service....of course they denied all knowledge..etc...so lesson learnt.

Now, whenever I leave my car with anyone...I always get the alloys/bodywork checked by a garage representative as soon as I get there ! Saves any subsequent hassle !

That's often the best way. I had a complaint with my previous credit card company and wrote to complain. They sent me £30 in compensation but I still left.

I often take pictures if my car is going in somewhere, showing the condition of all 4 alloys and my front bumper as the car is particularly low it would hit kerbs rather than clear them

Good tips - thanks. Lesson learnt I guess, and I certainly won't be going back there or recommending them!
