Hi all

About to place S3 SB order. Always thinking ahead to resale! This is my spec, top of budget. No sat nav. Am I doing the right thing, or should I sacrifice £1500 of my options to get nav instead bearing in mind resale?

FOr my own purposes, sat nav is not needed really.

Model . . : Audi S3 SB S3 quattro Man.
Colour . . : Sprint Blue, pearl effect
Upholstery : Black std leather, plus Silver headliner
Options . : iPod connection
Acoustic parking system - rear
BOSE sound system
Light & rain sensor pack
Mobile phone prep - Bluetooth interface
Privacy glass
Cruise control

Thanks,

J

I wouldn't worry about resale, if you don't need the nav then don't bother.

PS - Nice spec and great colour... But then again I would say that lol

Oh and I just remembered, I'd recommend the roof bars, they look the shizzle!!!

Do nav later if it bothers you, retro is cheaper than factory anyway & same system.

Save yourself £1000 and buy the sat nav second hand.

My S3 came with the basic Nav and not the RNSE. Bought RNSE for £450 and fitted it myself - a saving of £1050 if specc'd as standard

Same with my mate, he just had a concert unit and fitted RNSE straight away and mounted the arial under the dash - works a treat!

Dont forget the FM Radio antenna is another £200+ if you want to listen to the radio.

In reality if you go from Concert to RNS-E then its more like a £700 DIY job. And possibly a bit more if you want the shiny button model.

Still much cheaper than factory and you can do it as and when you want.

cheers

So can BUCKETS, if you can find a set :whistle2: :arco: :)

The cost of upgrading to buckets from new is cheaper than buying a set and selling standard leather though surely?

I see what you mean if you do the upgrade on a new car, think this was discussed before, just checked the configurator & its £1665 on top of the original leather seats, so depends how you look at it, original must be few K anyway but they obviously dont show price for this just standard on the S3.

Guess depends on how much you pay for the buckets/interior 2nd hand & how much you sell your existing interior for that will determine if its worthwhile or not, but good point.

There's a set on my dining room floor :ninja:

I just saw a new S3 with the regular seats which have the embossed leather, they look really smart, I certainly wouldn't be paying extra for the buckets.

Mr N, I hope you dont get back to blighty to find Mr N8's house all boarded up...

Its an apartment and I would NEVER do that, I'm gonna go S5 seats now anyway. Plus Nigel has a million things to fit to my car, so I'd never **** him off, he's my hero

Busted.

S3 or Cayman?:)

Dont you even start that one again, feck me isnt that in archives yet, lol

I might have to bring out ur fav photo

Nate is an honest lad & he has a list for me to do, good mate for sure

you can get the old -192 sat navs for 500 or 600 quid, but if you spec sat nav now, you get the MY10 -193 version with 32GB SD card, AMI etc. and there have only been a couple of these on ebay and they both went for around 900.

I got mine S3 in May this year and did not spec sat nav bacause it was not worth the 1600 price tag from Audi, if the MY10 version was available I would spec it as I think it is worth the money

I would retrofit Nav since it is less expensive and you can remove and sell later putting you ahead twice, and Definitely add the roof bars, I've had them on both of my A3's and besides looking sexy they add a lot of utility to the car(I carry bikes around a lot plus a roofbox when traveling with a full car)

I agree with mnoble, the new RSNe shifts for ~£900 quid on ebay so I think its a worth the extra to have it factory fitted with the aerial in the right place.

PS - Dont forget the roofies!!! :jump:

That interior is stunning on the RS6.

Forget nav spec buckets, its the one thing that will really differentiate your S3 from other A3 models, worth every penny just for the feel good factor alone, then consider the extra comfort and support and it becomes a no brainer.

IMO the Nav is the center point of the interior and the best sat nav Iv used ****** on my mates Porche 997 one! it is expensive but is considered preferable to dealers on re sale as well.

Go for a black edition...they list on audi systems for S3's as of 1st Dec...save you £590 on your spec and then you only have £1k to find.....personally agree with both RNSE (new spec version is till best part of £1k to retro including aerial) and the buckets as options.

Put deposit down on mine a few weeks ago and looking to be one of the first in line for my dealer to process tomorrow....

Cheers.
