porsche carrera and ST whooping

Just being a evo geek but the fq actual stands for "f**king quick" and was given to the car by rampage who do all the work on the cars once they come from japan,fq's are uk only.
I've tangled it up with gt2's gt3 rs's m3 csl's on track and held my own in my evo you just can't compare a s3 to any of the above!
The fq 400 was a terribly spec'd project with a real mismatch of a turbo.You can get 0-100 in 8seconds and 500+bhp from a evo for resonable money no alot can touch it.
 
S3's are quick, not fast. There are very punchy and can surprise a porsche or catch it out and get a few lengths on one. Why? Because they've got good midrange and geared for 160mph. The porsche is geared for 200mph so doesn't have that instant oomph when cruising around in top gear. If he was waiting for you, you'd get nailed big time.
 
A remapped s3 is like a tuned turbo diesel,little turbo loads of boost!

these threads are childish and pointless.

On an S3 forum, most owners will KNOW how their car will fare against a range of others.

So somebody claiming his is MILES quicker than anyone else's, is simply pointless.

Also, People keep saying they 'know' the opponent was giving it everything.

Really, how do you know?

Unless you stop and talk to them, and they admit defeat, nothing can be proved.

It will, the feedback is poo in every respect and you are aware of rear end weight but its very capable indeed. In fact, i can live with it (for the time being), were as the S3 was a disgrace and had ARB's fitted in less than 3weeks. As you know i've driven both RS4 and M3 was torn between the two but in the real world the RS4 is faster more of the time. Its not fun to drive like the M3 but it will scalp the M3 if you feel like it, most of the time you dont feel like it if that makes sense. If the steering was half a turn quicker....!!
 
It may be capable, if you can get them turned in...but getting the damn things to turn in is not easy.
An uber cruiser...not a back-road toy.
But then again...it wasn't meant to be.
 
I agree tim.... posts like this may not be beleavable or informative but there a good giggle. Think we'd all be bored to death reading about haldex controllers and tech talk of the likes all day long!!

Think the m3 would have a good edge on a b5 rs4 round a track / twisties due to the drive terrain and its weight difference but in a straight line the bimmer has no chance due to the shear power and torque of the twin turbo brute!!!

Thats the point mate.... i think that the banter that results....the side steps taken during the 'pointless' threads.... are funny, informative and yes, maybe a tad outlandish....but we put the guy straight didnt we lol....and found a lot from people who know what these other cars can do. :superman:Rock on
 
come to think of it, dosent the s4 win??? So basically what your saying is that if a newer s4 can beat an m3 round a track, a b5 rs4 can do the same??? interesting!!!

its standard at the moment 380bhp. Handling is very good indeed just numb to drive and needs a slightly quicker rack. Miles better out if the box than an S3. Hoping adding ARB's will add steering feel as they did on the S3.

On another note ive learnt over the years from other peoples experience, its not wise to talk about public road racing on any car forum except the saxo forum (where they love it).

Keep it at santa pod or a track near you. Dont forget to wear a helmet :p
 
I had a focus st 3 I was running 290bhp and against a standard s3 wouldent stay no were near it that car use to pull to 160mph no problem I think you would struggle with a standard st let alone a tuned one

i find the 911 hard to believe here guys, the st yes you can (and should) have beaten him but being born into a family of porsche enthusiasts you wont have touched the porsche, even if it is a bog standard 996. And also is it realy necessary to shout this to the forum?! well done you over took another car on a stretch of road, ithink i did about 7 on the way home...get over it!

we all have a go now and again.... its just the sillyness of this chap, that said ive played with a few ST's and they run out of puff where as mine kept going on pretty much every occasion...... also had a dabble with a chap in a conv 04 ish plate 911 conv, 20mph plus and kept with him on two seperate stretches all the way up, the chap gave me the thumbs up afterwards, but then we all know our cars are much better at pulling in gear as opposed to off the line (where heatsoak will ensue quicker) - safe to say i was shocked at my attempt

oh and im the complete opposite of a chav so bash away gentlemen
 
I (and a Merc E320 cdi W210) both took a barry'd 8L 1.8tq down a good country road. the Barry'd 8L had silly wheels (either knock off LMs or knock of RS4s, cant remember now) and was silly low, aftermarket lights etc.

to have your **** handed back to you down a b road by a 15 year old golf and a diesel large saloon must be a bad day. the 8L was left so far behind, he still didnt catch up enough to get back into sight even when we'd slowed down for the residential 30mph village part

I own an S3, its 9 years old, not that quick really, I can afford the payments on a brand new M3, RS4 or Porsche should i be so inclined but personally I will refer you back to my original comment at the head of this post. ;)

sadly Martin it is a sign of the times, but regardless of whether i have an 8L S3 or an 8P S3 or infact a Porsche 911 (which i too can easily afford, not a brand new one tho ;) ) I wil always have a 'story' to tell - and so this type of thread will always exist as that is the nature of buying a fast car.... you want to know what it can do, ideally in a safe manner - i think your contribuition is irrelevant regards the lease or HP, I would agree entirely but cant see how that fits into this thread personally?

The thread is there to highlight what an S3 can do against a particular car, ok the thread starter is suffering dillusions of grandure but nevertheless.... we will all come across the odd occasion where we feel we want to put our foots down and will attract the local boy racer or (like i did last night) the local hairdresser in his new TT - thats life, get over it ;)
 
In regards to the st vs s3 both standard would be a tight race
the st wouldent run out of puff till bout 140mph
my mate has a 911 c4s and a s3 has no chance what so ever even one runnig big turbo would be a hard race
 
considering the ST is 2.5 i would have expected it to do better at the top end, compared to mine it dropped off quite a bit, and thats happend a few times now....... altho i mapped so obviously needs to be taken into account
