Hi sounds like the map needs adjusting to give a little less fuel at startup and tickover. black smoke is is a sine of over fuelling with a cold burn temp which gives the black smoke, white smoke is unburnt fuel and a bit of blue smoke could be valve guide stem seals. Phil.

Hi well I took the diff out today and striped it down it has a 37/10 crown gear and pinion the bearings don't look to bad with no pitting or scoring on the crown bearings I have not puled the pinion out yet as I cannot find my 36mm socket. Phil.

Well I have looked all over my rear diff and the only code I can find is behind the diff mounting bracket that holds the diff in,and it looks to be OJR525053 now I do not know if it should be 0IR not OJR and the last number 3 was very hard to see so it may not be a 3 it could be a 5 or 8 so now...

Hi yes, and no it was not, that's what the problem was a faulty thermostat mine got that hot and pressurised it blow the bottom hose mount off the rad. I just got a head set with new bolts from eurocar parts I think it cost me around the £100 mark. Phil.

You will not get more power when you skim the head, but I don't think you will need a skim I had a problem like this on my B5 Avant SE115 bhp which I still have with 275.000 miles on it. and it was the head gasket though I did the job my self it turned out that the head gasket was only leaking...
