Sorry I can't help with much else but the temperature seems fine especially if vcds says so, the needle is always I little bit out from what I hear... if vcds says your good then you probably are... again sorry I can't help with much else but it's one worry off your mind I suppose

Have you had them cleared lately or are there just not any at all? If it's the latter how long have u had the problems for as they won't always throw up a warning code straight away, mine didn't with my coolant thermostat for about 2 weeks after I noticed things were a bit funny.
Ben
Pretty sure when someone more knowledgeable gets here the 1st thing they will want will be fault codes.... so let's just start there as I think there are a few coolant sensor codes ;) have u tried just changeing the sensor, they r cheap as chips and takes literaly 30 seconds, if it's not that it...
I have noticed this myself actually, however being an a3 1.8t owner and looking into upgrading soon, kinda makes me wana cry... altho for you guys already owning one it's a good thing... I suppose there are fewer on the road in a decent condition now and they are getting on for 18 years old...
Sounds silly but probably best to check the door to see if it does leak, simply hose the ****** down ;) if it's not that then maybe check the door drains as they can clog up and then start leaking into the footwell. .. as for the carpets I'm not too sure but I'd keep them Atleast until you have...
Yeah Deffo worth it if u can and yeah It realy is mate N whaaaaat :O show them that 2 minute video and ask them what the ****** hell they are gna be doing for 3 hours lol....they could have your whole engine out in that time lmfao
If u have got the mentally long extension you need for your...
As above mate...but the thermostat is a ****** ******...mines the a3 1.8t so dno if it's different but even getting at it from the engine side is a ******..iv had 3 attempts so far and u need a realy long extension....here's the video I have been useing for reference
Hope that helps

The scuttle is a ******, and water in the footwell is common on these, had the same problem myself when I bought mine but it had already been fixed and was just still extremely wet...stickies and Google are your best friends for this as it could be getting from a few places, just a test N wait...
Probably best to have a butch and measure them unless someone knows as these ****** cars are a nightmare when it comes to all aspects of the audio equipment.
Ben
Not too dad. I just picked up my stat and sensor from a parts store for £13 ... going to attempt the fit later and hopefully this will sort the problem ;)
Ben
Goto remember you have an s3....so naturally I'll have better mpg probably anyway and oh :/ I read it be to do with the ecu thinking it's constantly on a cold start so runs the mixture lean... or I've got another problem on my hands as well as the thermostat :O lol
