Hi all,
I recently bought a 2014 Audi Q3 (8U) 2.0tfsi Quattro DSG with very low mileage. The car literally looks and feels like brand new, but around 20mph, in any gear, you can hear a single clunk/tap/knock when the car is moving and you press the accelerator to accelerate more. It comes again...
So I got to the bottom of the coolant loss. The brand new thermostat was leaking - the plastic was slightly warped from new.
I swapped it for another and its now not leaking. However, when I fill the coolant to the max level I am finding it leaks out of the overflow when it warms up and then...
So just an update. I've let it run for a few days and it seems to run fine and get up to temperature ok.
However it seems to be dumping some coolant somewhere. I noticed a puddle under the car (directly below the thermostat housing but there is a opening there on the undertray too so that is...
Thanks all. I've heard of coolant levels rising (when up to temp) but never knew it would drop.
Anyway this morning I opened the bonnet (car was cold) to find that the coolant was higher than the max mark (yesterday night it was near the low mark after a drive).
Fished some coolant out and...
Hi All,
So I finally got the chance to fit a new thermostat after my 2.0TFSI was suffering from the usual temperature drop at motorway speeds.
For some reason I found it very easy to do (once the alternator was off) and glad I didn't let my garage do it as it took 1.5 hours as opposed to the...
Sorry for the delay but thank you for your reply :)
I did manage to fix the issue so thought I'd put it on here, in case anyone experienced similar.
It turned out to be the vacuum pump. Basically the hose at the top had become a little detached so on cold start it was creating a rattling noise...
Hi all,
So since the drop in temperatures I've noticed that my 2.0TFSI makes a kind of rattly noise (as if something is struggling to spin over properly). I usually let the car idle before taking off (old habit) and either that or a few light blips of the throttle usually 'free up' whatever...
Yes I think its false economy as the inner and outer joints are probably evenly worn, so the other probably won't be far off. I only had one inner joint go but I just replaced both sides and complete for piece of mind.
Might answer your question but I've noticed on quattro's (mine is FWD 2.0TFSI) the length on the left and right are different.
So L is 594mm and R is 615mm in length. Other than this they seem identical.
I'm sure you won't regret going with the SKF ones. I'm happy with them. My specialist VAG indy told me to go for them as he fits them all day long and never had issues.
Out of interest what's the Audi P/Ns that correlate to your car?
I had this issue and like yourself, didn't want to fork out on the expensive Audi OE ones.
I did some research and decided to order some SKF ones. I believe the OE ones are made by GKN but SKF are well known for bearings and driveshafts.
I actually got a great deal on two SKF driveshafts from...
Thanks bud.
So I ended up narrowing it down to coming from the passenger side front caliper.
I took the pads out today to inspect and could see that the little ears at the end of the pads aren't 100% to the shape of the groove on the calipers (the pads are made by Bendix).
I was able to...
Hi all,
So I'm at my wits end trying to figure a single metallic clunk noise when I brake whilst driving. It only happens at low speeds and after I've been over a rough road or speed bump. It happens once then it goes away and only comes back the next time I've been over a rough road, incline...
