    Cheers everyone, so I've just ordered one from euro car parts as that's the only parts dealer close to me that can get it in today, cost £215, but I'm just reading online and people are saying the regulator can be at fault, so I'm just hoping the new alternator comes with a regulator attached...

    Cheers mate, just had a quick look and it can't search anything through my vin number but if I do a manual search it comes up with one alternator for the 6 cylinder Diesel engine but it's the 2.5 tdi not the 3.0l looks like I'm going to have to wait till Saturday to get the part number then...

    right after replacing the battery last week and all was going well, the battery light came on today, then went of. Now is on again, checked and there's no charge coming from the alternator, It does only seem to be intermittent but the light is on more often than not, had the alternator checked...

    Cheers mate, out of interest what size tyres are you running, just collected a set of 18s for the car today and not sure if I should stick to Audis standard which I think is 245 40 18 or if I can get away with lower profile tyre without affecting the speedo. Cheers

    Brilliant thanks again mate, I was under the impression that the sensor was under the air intake hose at the top of the engine but I've just been to Audi to get the sensor its a 2 pin sensor and it sits on top of one of the radiator hoses apparently. My engine code is bmk apparently

    getting sick of this now, get in the car this afternoon and after replacing the battery yesterday, clearing all codes and the car was driving ok, stop the car, pop into the shop, get back in the car and the fan comes on, straight away even though the engine was cool, then fan turns of, then back...

    Why do Audi have to complicate things, I haven't got vag com mate, can't even access the battery meter through my mmi as haven't got that function and there is no hidden menu on mine to activate it lol. But thanks anyway mate, surely after a while the ecu will learn that the new battery is there?

    Right thanks mate, got a new battery (£100) later from halfrauds, replaced the battery, car still sounded like it was struggling to start but that was only the first time it had been started with the new battery, as you said the esp light was on but also the electronic handbrake malfunction came...
