Might be worth checking that your snub mount rubber is still there and in good nick, as it's an easy thing to rule out.

Whether there are any gains to be had with an aftermarket intake is very application specific. If the stock intake is restrictive, there can be gains to be had at or near stock. If it'll flow well for a given power level, you probably don't need to change it until then. The stock B7 airbox...

VW are pretty generous with the options, whereas Audi like to appear competitive on price, by making everything a cost option. It's not as bad as it used to be though. The B6 was basic AF unless you got into the options list, my B7 is still pretty sparse.
