It's in the exhaust manifold just under the turbo it's tricky to get on I would suggest making sure this is your issue as I have known theses th snap in the manifold and that a a whole different job

The fastners/Nuts are 10mm spanner size but the actual thread size I believe is 6mm

It does happen due to heat ove had 1 replaced under warranty but was a struggle and there needs to be no there marks or nicks in the carbon

Swap seats first rule them out, and really you want to test all wiring plugged in and switched on

Are they set on Auto ?

Engine compression? What's the problem

Did you replace the plugs ? and what condition are they in this can tell you alot and possibly locate what cylinder has an issue I would be covering basics first

If the engine mount came loose and has damage the toothed belt likely out come is that it has caused the camshaft timing to be so far out that 1 or several valves have hit the pistons o would re do the valve/ cam timing remove all glow plugs and turn engine over by hand to feel for excessive...

It sounds like you only have 1 key so why not order a new key and remote this is mostly likely the problem you then have a good working key and a spare

Hi 50% is high so if it was me I would take it too your local Audi centre as there should be an event stored relating to your issue if not maybe a sw update

Being an early Q7 2006 depends what MMI it has is it a Can System or MOST Bus ? Is the MMI screen red or is it a colour screen

Does not really make sense ??? Does it make the noise when stationary? What about if you was to switch engine off when coasting to see if noise is still present?
