Thanks Jim - sorry our posts overlapped. Just seen your awesome Rolls Royce pictures - and yes my A4 has those hologram swirl marks that the RR had. Trying to work out whether I can insist that the bodyshop do the mop again using better materials or ask for a refund and go elsewhere. Any ideas...
Thanks Tech for the clarification - is it reasonable to have expected them to have used the right materials - the swirl marks look very strange in full sunshine - makes the car look a real mess. And if I ask them to go over it using the finer products will they likely do a good job? Having spent...
I've just had a bonnet respray and the paint shop also suggest getting the car mopped at the same time. With the flat black paint and being a 2005 plate there were many circular scratches in the lacquer coat which showed in the sunshine. The finish now looks great when there is anything but...
I've been looking at A4 B8s but wondering whether I would be better off with an A5 because of the strange offset seating position in the new A4. The A5 doesn't seem to have this issue - does anyone know whether the A5 Sportback has the issue because it has the same floorpan as the A4 B8 ...
Hi Sunny, I got my retrim done at Classic Car Services who defintely have the expertise to do something like this and may well have the patterns for an A4 Avant if they have done one before. http://www.classiccarservices.co.uk/
Hi Mark, I bought a boot line for my saloon from these guys and it's a good fit and plenty robust enough http://www.carbox.co.uk/acatalog/CARBOX_Form_Mat_Tailor_Made_Boot_Liner.html

Do what I did John, buy the 3.0 TDI with cloth seats and without the Sat Nav and get both fitted afer market. The Sat Nav is well covered in many articles and I had my interior done at http://www.classiccarservices.co.uk/gallery.html
I suspect the 17" wheels aren't too hard to come by, as many...
I had mine done by Hazzydayz Ltd and very happy with the service, they travelled to Reading to do this at work and obviously do a huge number of such mods. They charge £175 now according to the website http://vwcruise.com/70.html - I'm sure it might be cheaper if you do it yourself but I...
Absolutely it is your dual mass flywheel. I tried out a Bluefin remap on test, and found the first remap didn't make a huge difference, they then changed it for a more aggressive map, which brought the torque in more quickly and more noticeably. This generated exactly the issue you are talking...
Thanks Bing_IRL as that made me look around as well - there do seem to be some much better deals available from the OEM supliers such as this http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/clutch-parts-final.php?year=2005&Submit=Next&make=Audi&model=A4&sub=&eng=3.0000
Yes nice to see that the car isn't down on power at nearly 5 years old. I'm just south of Loughborough, near to Ashby de la Zouch - hence the wonderfully named Monster Motorsport are quite close. I did look at fitting the Kenlowe preheater, but nobody seemed confident as to where it should be...
Perhaps you are thinking of Eberspacher who I think make the auxiliary pre-heater for Audi. I don't think it's an option in the UK, but it would be nice at the moment to start up a car with a warmed up engine :sm4:
Do I have a diesel power cabin heater, I knew it was an option in Germany but didn't think it was in the UK. The car does heat up reasonably quickly but it still takes a few minutes so I suspect I haven't got one. Be interested if anyone knew how to fit one, especially at the moment.
I decided to check whether I had any problems, I found Monster Motorsport http://www.monstermotorsport.com/ at Loughborough who have a 4 wheel rolling road, on which you can do a run for £50. The results are below (assuming I get the tags correct) - 206PS and 474Nm which are both slightly above...
When you replace the flywheel what are the pros and cons of using a solid flywheel - which wouldn't have the problems that the dual mass has? I see that people recommend this when you chip the car to allow for the increased torque.
