A number of silly, but infuriating niggles - and some questions. 1999 A3 AGU

Oddly, the ABS light hasn't been on in days and even when it is, ABS still operates. I will leave it alone as no codes are being thrown (not sure whether or not any should be, given the relatively early management). I've got a spare gearbox so I will switch the sensors over and see if that does...

A number of silly, but infuriating niggles - and some questions. 1999 A3 AGU

I wonder what it is that causes the AGU coolant warning issue on cold starts? The car has TT 6 spokes with 225 45 17 - same overall diameter as 205 55 16 (which I believe would have been OEM on the 1.8t sport) so that shouldn't be the culprit. Also the speedo is under - reading (i.e. speedo...

A number of silly, but infuriating niggles - and some questions. 1999 A3 AGU

Hello, firstly I apologise if some/all of these have been covered - I have been through the search function and had no joy although I confess that there is a LOT to go through! As the title says, I am suffering some silly niggles with my '99 A3...I picked it up as a cheap runabout in need of a...

    Staggered wheels on B3 Quattro?

I've stumbled on some wheels that would look pleasant on the soon to be collected 90 Q but also dimly remember from owning a passat syncro that it is unwise to run staggered sizes. Does this also apply to the older Q's? Would be aiming for the same rolling diameter, so the only differences would...

B5 Basics (apologies - not in FAQ's and no search)

That is interesting and certainly opens up the field in terms of finding a base car. A4 V6 quattro's seem to go for pennies!:hubbahubba: So is it also the case that a V6 Q 'box and a 1.8t Q box are a straight swap if required? (thinking - get running first, play with gearing after).

B5 Basics (apologies - not in FAQ's and no search)

Hello all, apologies if the questions seem odd but I do have a rationale. Just read the V8 into B5 1.8t thread (sorry to hear of so many issues, the reason I am here is because of being had over for a lot of money on another project) and what I'm curious to know is - Will a 1.8t (AEB) bolt on...

Newb - straight in at the deep end

Been reading a lot on fourtitude, vortex, motorgeek etc and I have managed to get myself in a pickle over the gearbox scenario. (Doh):readit: some are saying the 1.8t won't mount on a 5 pot 'box because the input shaft is too long. Others are saying that only a 4 pot 'box will be ok with the...

Newb - straight in at the deep end

Hello folks Due to the forced abandonment of my last project I have an AEB code 1.8t engine with no home. I don't really want an A4 (the easy route) and have always had a fondness for type 89's (I think you call them B3's?) having had a 90 some years ago. I've been looking up the idea of...
