Thanks for the response, I think I understand that it’s to enable the engine to warmup quicker in colder weather which will eventually enable the cabin to warm up quicker as a result. Cheers

Hi I have experienced the same problems but my total failure to start was preceded by a replacement of the dashboard control unit under warranty (£2500) after fault tracing highlighted it had failed. So problem fixed well that was mid October on Monday my car started exhibiting same problems...

Audi techs say fault tracking has them believing it is the battery that is the issue, not convinced myself but I will find out hopefully not the hard way! Also say it could have caused the dashboard control unit to fail, again remain to be convinced. Also told I have to replace all four tyres...
