Light on dark and vice versa usually. There are few exceptions!

Regular servicing should see you (mostly) alright. You can only look after it as best you can, you don't know how it was treated before you bought it. Maybe keep it as is for a little while until anything 'develops'. Once you are comfortable or more confident then you can think about remapping...

I read about this before I had a bluetooth dongle fitted in mine and alas I have a similar issue - I think its called 'alternator whine'. Apparently a resistor fitted inline ground iirc would help but I don't have any more info as I never did it. Hope that helps to get you started...
