If you go for a DSG box, make sure you get a comprehensive warranty that will cover the cost of repair.

    8V buying advice….

+1 with Damo. All auto 8Vs have DSG boxes and the lower you go in engine spec, the clunkier they are in my opinion. Others say they are the best thing since... I had a brand new A3 2.0 TDI 150 SE with DSG box as a loaner from Audi for about a month. Hated it. I didn't think the gearbox suited...

What type of petrol in a S3?

I've had my S3 six and half years, have a stage 1 map and have run it on everything from standard cheapo 95 RON Jet petrol to V Power. I can honestly say I detect no difference in fuel consumption, smooth running or performance between whatever is in the tank and would defy anyone to "feel" the...

    Contemplating Buying An S3

I have a manual but rarely drive in heavy traffic but would consider an auto if I was driving around town every day. The clutch gave out at 30k miles and I replaced with a heavy duty RTS clutch which feels a lot better (but still as light as the original) and has stood up to 5k miles with a...

    Cambelt change and Audi All-In

I was in a similar position, had a service plan, five year warranty. I considered the all in when mine hit 5 years old but Audi wanted extra £200 on top for brake fluid change and haldex service to "qualify" and said they were NOT INCLUDED IN THE SERVICE PLAN. I decided enough was enough and...

    2015 A3 2.0 TDI Clutch issue

Daughter drove her TT for two months and it kept 'coming right'. :sadlike: - until it got worse. She didn't end up having the flywheel done, just the clutch and slave and it's been spot on since. You really need to remove the DMF and lay it flat to check it. As AlS3BE says, If you have the job...

    2015 A3 2.0 TDI Clutch issue

Quick search confirms it is this part and it's concentric. My god these have gone up! I bought this OEM part from audi-parts-uk for my S3 for £31 last year to fit with the uprated clutch...

    2015 A3 2.0 TDI Clutch issue

My daughter's TT did similar. Either maser or slave cylinder hers was the slave. If it's the same as the ea888 the slave is around £50 but is concentric (around the gearbox input shaft) and it's a gearbox off to change it. So yes, the labour is the costly part so change the whole clutch (and...

Audi A3 sportsback 2013 2.0 TDI my audi has a couple of issues the first being it is losing coolant after long journeys when parked up ?

Head gasket is easy to check. After a short drive, let the car go stone cold then remove the coolant filler cap. If you hear a hiss and there is pressure in the header tank when cold it's likely got in there via a leaking gasket. Or do a "sniff test". A device containing a coloured liquid that...

Recommend me some mods for my A3

A stage 1 map should provide massive gains on that engine/turbo. 180 to 240 bhp and 250 to 370NM torque. Even with this power/torque and FWD, your skiddy light will always be flashing. Any more could be unmanageable.

    Facelift A3 8v real MPG?

I've just done a two way 332 mile round trip to "the smoke" in a day and with fuel at the price it is, the speed cameras on the A1, and quiet Sunday roads, thought I would try an economy drive and brim to brim calculation. Mode set to economy, cruise control set to 70mph and gentle acceleration...

    Coil Pack Failure

I'd expect all the new coils to be the same make and look new. Did the garage just charge for the plugs or three coil packs as well (if you asked them to change them all whilst they were in there replacing the faulty one)? Always ask for the old parts back. That way, you have more confidence...
