So, another update. The OEM crankshaft sensor arrived today and it has not fixed the problem. I am at wits end as to what this could be at this point.
Something has gone wrong when I replaced the fuel rail, because since then it doesn't start at all, even when I put the old rail back in. I...
Without revealing too much I worked on Lego games, then Minecraft & some VR games for Sony, and currently I am working on a PC exclusive title with a big ambition.
So, to update on this. I have taken the front end off again, and took out the new crankshaft sensor back out. I've now contacted a friend to get me an OEM part, maybe its the sensor after all.
Also checked the lambda sensor, thinking the engine might have trouble starting because the exhaust...
Can't see any chaffing on it. There are a few places where the cable is exposed but the wires don't look damaged. Namely at the junction to the ECU and the harness from glow plugs, from which I am attaching a picture. I've now patched those up.
I also tried running the car with no fuel filter...
The injectors are definitely getting fuel, as to whether they are firing properly I don't know as I haven't taken them out yet, really worried about that part so wanted to eliminate everything else beforehand.
I checked the fuel return valve and it is functioning as expected, fuel is definitely...
Hello. I am posting here in hopes someone might have an idea of what is going on with my car. It currently cranks but doesn't start. I've been fighting with it since the start of April to get it off the driveway.
It is an 1.6TDI with 161k miles done.
It started at the beginning of April when...
Looks like that is only specific to the 2.0TDI? Could be wrong. I have a 2010 1.6TDI. Looked on KMB site and they only provide these replacements for the 2.0TDI engine hence my thinking.
Thanks though. If I find out that after all the **** I've been through with this car it gets killed by an oil...
So a development has ocurred.
On a drive during new years eve to see the fireworks the error came on and stayed on. Switched off the engine, turned it back on. Error came up within 3 minutes and its now staying like that.
Put the car up on the ramps today and I have started to take it apart with...
Don't have either of those manuals at the moment. Will look to pick one up and look into it a bit more. Probably going to give myself a break for the remainder of this year though. As I said, its been happening for 2 years and the engine has been fine driving across Europe 2 times and generally...
No, the oil pump is the last thing I have not checked now that I think about it.
But considering that this error has been happening to me for nearly 2 years, throughout the whole length of the ownership I can't imagine that its something that is actually mechanical in nature, as the engine...
So it has been a long *** while but I want to give an update nonetheless.
So as I said above, the cable of the oil pressure switch on the engine block was frayed. I initially tried to put some isolation tape on it and see if that fixed it. It did not.
I've recently drove to Poland and while...
Not sure if I should post it here or in the detailing chat. But anyway.
I drove to Poland recently, and I remembered one beatiful (there are many) thing about my homeland.
The car wash.
Now, let me explain. Because what I classify as a car wash does not exist in the whole of England and I...
