What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

I changed mine about 2 yrs ago, but will check again. My original wasn't in too bad a shape, but changed it anyway.

What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Mine has just passed its MOT, but still has a slight knock from the OS suspension. Previously failed on track rod ends, ARB drop links and OS rear lower arm. Replaced all of those, and both rear lower arms. Will change the lower forward arms ASAP, hope that's what the knock is.

good home wanted for my 06 2.0 tdi sline runs and drives but stuck open injector so a little Smokey MOT till end of march 2024.open to offers

I did mine a few months ago, and after seeing the YouTube video was expecting to see lots of dirt in the filter. The purge came out almost as it went in, hardly any sediment. But then I do put a splash of 2T oil in my tank on most fill ups. Now I only put Diesel Purge into my fuel filter on...

All sorted. Apparently (if I understood the garage correctly) the MOT lady had wedged a plastic cover up, when prying etc, and it was stopping the release lever from moving freely. So the wife will be mad tomorrow. Heaven help them at the MOT place.

@northpole where would one find the CSC? And how much strip down does it involve? Gearbox and clutch out?

When I say "she" I mean the tester here. She must have noticed something was wrong when she drove it out of the bay, but decided to say nothing. I just wish my missus had gone straight back in. It's done about 50miles since the test and the tester is going to deny any knowledge of it anyway.

What is a CSC? And why would it go at that moment? If the shaker plate is good then the tester must be at fault, she didn't diagnose the fault at all. The arms I took off seemed fine, but still having a slight knock.

What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Well on Friday actually. The wife has ours MOTd. Failed on a few bits, as we knew we had an off side knock. OS rear lower arm, both drop links and track rod ends. Tackled it over the weekend. Did both lower arms and drop links, and NS track rod end. Came apart by hand once the locknut was...

What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

Today I changed my driveshafts, Shaftec to replace the knackered 11 mths old Apec ones. Not too bad a job, particularly on the NS. Laying them side by the the quality of the Shaftec shafts is world's apart. The old shafts will be going back for a refund, and I shan't be using any Apec parts...

    Drive shaft prematurely worn.

Thanks Rob, I am going to tackle it myself. Having just done the subframe, wishbones, shock, springs and track rod ends on my A2, I'm feeling up for it. Just sorting out a high torque wrench now, and watched a lot of YouTube videos on it. I might still need further advice however.

I really am tempted at that price, moreso if I do the job myself. Then if they do wear out it's not a biggie, saving garage costs to replace.

I'm fairly proficient with spanners, are they really a pig to change, inner bolts hub bolt, boots etc? I was charged £189 (Inc new inner bolts, are they necessary?) by a garage last March. I could do without that expense on top.

Been looking at some reviews. One from a few years back say they are good quality. Recent reviews don't talk very highly. They might have swapped to different materials. I suppose you pays your money.......

And how are the new ones? Were you happy putting the same make back in after all the hassles? Did you fit new inner flange bolts each time? That's not cheap either.

I think I might give them a go. But them being so cheap, makes me wary.
