Thanks for the reply, trip went well, no fresh snow so chains stayed in the boot ready to satisfy any jobsworth Gendarmerie. I'm curious though, why not chains on 235/40-18? That' is what I have.

But isn't 70% of torque on the rear?

Off to the alps, got M+S tyres fitted but also picked up a pair of chains just in case. Won't use them unless necessary BUT: Front or Back Thanks

Fixed for now, crush washer & tape on the bottom half of the plug. Next time I'll order up new plug & washer. Thanks for advice.

Yes, when I removed with the crush washer it wasn't tight at all, almost alarmingly so, so this time it is tight. Thinking ptfe tape & crush washer for today. Maybe a new plug next time, but I don't think there's anything wrong with this one!

Anyone had this? I use copper crush washers on all my cars, but last change it had been leaking slightly so this time I tried a solid copper and its peeing out. What's going on?

I did this, I knocked up some plastic end plates to screw onto the ducting flanges then filled & soaked overnight with caustic, worked good. I also painstakingly cleaned all 24 ports as best I could with diesel, paintbrush, fingers& rag, took me forever. There was an obvious difference where the...

Fixed! It was totally dead, no dash lights, wouldn't lock, wouldn't let me shift out of park. It was earth strap body connection, I've had earth strap fun on old bangers but never a sudden total loss like that.

Car started fine to move then 5 minutes later, relay chatter then total power loss, nothing, can't even lock it or get it out of park. Any ideas? 3.0tdi auto

If it's the ones from Poland, then yes, no complaints, engineering looked good and it cleared the swirl flap fault.

I did mine when I changed the manifolds. I had remap & EGR delete, and blanked the EGR port. The turbo duct was clean & shiny up to where the EGR T's in, from there on it was all thick tar. The duct work I did in caustic soda, the replacement manifolds were clean anyway but the 24 valve ports...

Think it was a 019 that I fitted in the 3.0tdi and it is too long, sits on the AC pipes at one end
