there as been so many mods on the oil pump/assy on this car
check the oil pump hexagonal drive
check the shaft is 100mm long not 65mm
check the hexagonal drive in the balance shaft
if its had the short hex drive it will have rounded out the hex in the balance shaft and even the oil pump
also...
you can replace without removing the front but its tight
remove the vicous fan assy to allow change
also check the freewheel pulley of the alternator if its fitted as these seize and cause tensioner issues
gsf do these
if you replace check to see if the bolt will come out first as they seize in badly
fit new bolts avail from tps for about £10 for bolts and washers and nuts
when you replace you will have to reset the 4wa
i would clean it up with some brake cleaner first to see if you have any cracks
if no cracks remove sump plug for investigation
if it comes out ok and there is no cracks fit new plug and washer and torque up to 25nm
if there is damage then you could helicoil/timesert the thread
its located behind the oil filter/cooler housing
between the engine and gearbox joint about 40mm up from the front casing bolt
you need to remove the oil filter housing assy to gain access
you will need a ball end 5mm allen key
