Mine was the starter motor
Visibly around the electrics it started to melt the plastic
Bosch replacement starter fitted and starts immediately everytime
Sorry to hear, but as you say think of the upside. You'll have a freshly painted frontend and be better off by the end of it!
BTW. The exact Wings Lothian supply you can buy in primer from Eurocarparts for £39 each.
I've bought wings from Lothian painted a pair and was extremely happy with...
Yes it's 16mm. I've just done this myself the other night.
We cut the ring end of a 16mm spanner off and used the open end and a pipe over the other end to slip the spanner onto the but and be able to get the access and leverage without having to strip any other parts or move the frontend into...

Ignore the warning light I got. That was fuse misplaced.
See the link to the thread and if you have VCDS it's a breeze to retrofit with genuine Kufatec cables.

I'm big fan of it and it transforms the interior to be completely black too which I love
Is this going into a saloon or avant?
It's possible on the B7.
There was a chap on here who done it
Here's his thread

They all suffer Oil pump issues in one way or another.
As @B7Tourer as said avoid BLB. It was perhaps the worst.
My original B7 was BLB and had to have the oil pump modification done and came with very expensive invoice to fix it.
Since then, I have personally put a BRE into an originally BRD...
They've completely overdone it now.
I know sites cost money to run. I run them myself.
But the number of ads is completely excessive and off putting.
It's too much
