No DIS does nt work for the radio, i think there is a adapter interface you can get but tbh not really looked into it. Mine does nt have the steering wheel controls but with correct adapter they will work. I have BOSE and it works perfectly

2 of the wires in the wiring harness need to be switched around, a yellow and a red, simply a matter of unplugging them and switching them around

Torque Pro on my android tablet (this stays in the car all the time and has sat nav etc on it) I use a bluetooth connection via the OBD2 port I have Dash Command on it aswell but this is refusing to pair with the adapter on the OBD2 for some reason although works fine with my wi fi adapter...

Basically plug and play, you will probably need a autolead adapter, then that should be it. Mine has the BOSE system in and was a bit fiddly, but sorted now. Only issue i have in that when turning off the engine the radio goes off as aswell , but not a major problem tbh

Coil packs would be my first guess with those symtoms

Take a live from the fusebox and use one of the bolts that hold on the dash a earth point

yeah fitted one, works fine, definately a improvemnet, lives in the battery box

did the same on my A3, there is a little screw you can alter, turned it anti clockwise a few turns, and all is fine now. Turns 20 revolutions, fully anti clockwise is maximum power.

I would say start with the headunit, look at Pioneer Alpine Kenwood Sony etc Is it a single din unit or double din unit ?? Does it have BOSE fitted ?? My car has a Pioneer AVH-3500DAB unit with Bose and sounds lovely, no need for me to change the speakers tbh

what OEM system have you got at the moment ?? Is it single din or double din ?? Should be able to ehat you want for £300. I would stick with Pioneer Alpine etc
