Did you ever get to the cause of the dash rattle? I have the exact same problem

Has anyone took the virtual dash out and if so how? As above it looks like you need a tool. I am in absolutely no way endorsing mileage corruption it just shows how to remove the cluster.

I have the rattle there too. I removed the binnacle and applied anti squeak tape which worked for about 4 days. The rattle has came back, my heart sunk it’s definitely behind the virtual cluster. I too need to find out how to remove it. I found this and it looks like you need a tool...

When you say faulty climate do mean the control unit? I can get access to VCDS so I’ll try that, many thanks for your help.

Hi, I’m in the same position with steering wheel…. I’m on an A6 owners page on Facebook and a member claims to have used a RS4 wheel on his A6 C7. Is this correct? My current wheel is the round one…. I’d like the flat bottom wheel which is from a RS4. Are they compat?

Cam chain tensioner I believe. Replacing all tensioners, guides and associated gubbins. Mines the 272 variant which I understand to have a weakness in the tensioners. Mine however, didn’t have the classic cold start rattle, mine came in at 1500-1800 rpms

Well…. It has since turned out to be the bottom tensioner causing the rattle. I’ve just got the go ahead from my warranty company to repair it at a cost of £3500!!

My A7 spent a week at Audi and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. There is a rattle when cold from the underside of the car but apparently they can’t place it. It can’t be run through the gears when it’s on a ramp because of of the Quattro system apparently. I just have to suck it and...

Well…. See my later post. I now have a hell of a rattle from the gearbox area when cold. It’s been diagnosed as a failing dual mass flywheel. It’s in Audi at the minute, I’ll find out on Monday. The jerk would tie in with the flywheel being on its way out.

Hi all, I have a 2015 A7 Quattro 272bhp with a 7 spd s-tronic gearbox. I have a rattle from underneath the car when cold. It also rattles slightly when warm but not as much. Is the dual mass flywheel a weak point? Should I replace anything else when I’m in there? Here’s a link to the sound.
