Audi Refuse Rejection Pt2

Hi All

further to my previous post about audi rejecting my 70 plate A3 edition 1. They sent the RAC to do an independent investigation on Friday.

The technician did the report on friday (refused to say what he found). VWFS have just emailed me to say that they suggest I do not connect my mobile phone (iphone 12) to the car as this may be the issue and they still refuse to accept my rejection. Even though the screen turning off has happened before when the phone is not connected
Can i get some thoughts as surely the phone is not the issue and the car should be compatible

Sounds like absolute rubbish. I wouldn't accept that from them at all. The infotainment system is designed for your phone to be connected to it so why would you want to keep a car where you can't use its features ?

Sounds like Audi are really disgracing themselves here.

Exactly my thoughts. For the first time also ‘parking brake fault’ appeared as i exited the car so surely thats not the phone. Its absolute rubbish I would of been happy to get a new audi but they will be losing me as a customer

My 70 plate A3 had a parking brake fault, nobody took me serious until one day it rolled into my garage door. Then they suddenly found a faulty abs module that has been replaced. Now to the mmi issue mine had been constantly crashing and rebooting , I don’t know if this is a coincidence but a lot of my issues have stopped since I haven’t connected my iPhone X to the system.

Wow thats so unsafe. My driveway im sure like everyones goes onto the open road. Do i have to wait until it rolls into another car or a wall ?! I had a samsung S9 which is on the audi compatibility list when i got the car I still had these issues. I only changed to iphone december 23rd. Like K96 said above why should we as customers not be able to use the infotainment correctly because of an Audi issue ?

Not sure who gave the info on not connecting your phone!.......Would you except Sky tv without a remote?
Go and drive the car to the place you purchased it, leave the keys and a list of found errors, dont worry too much about pictures or video evidence, if they cannot take your word for it then what are you a `liar?`
Then tell them because you do not have transport you will hire a car and charge them until they fix or replace the car you payed your hard earned for!
Hire a car that is the equal to the A3 in spec....or ask the dealership if they can supply one.

Then go and see a solicitor, he will advise you from there, again put these costs onto Audi.
If they do not want to or cannot fix the issues then it is there duty under warranty to replace or fix it by law.

Let Audi know of your planned actions and advise them you do not feel safe in the car due to the systems failing, as most of the safety features are contained in the MMI and you do not have any faith in them doing the job they are supposed to do if connecting a bluetooth device is an issue!!!!

++As for the handbrake fail....this is just error reporting, the handbrake is fine (you can hear the electronic pads clamping)....but it can be un-nerving if you are on a hill...look down and the red light next to the manual switch is on......I have to be honest I drive the 8Y the same as the 8V....I don`t pay any attention to all the icons and messages that pop up from time to time....I just drive the car and enjoy that part, as long as its going forward, it stops and starts and changes gear...I am happy!....easly pleased.

I take photos of all warnings now. This helped me with my rejection case.

I am honestly close to this stage. The RAC ‘professional’ wrote it in his report he recommended i dont connect my phone and see if the issues are still there. Im not sure how a phone throws up an SOS message. Im contacting the financial obudsman first thing tomorrow. This is beyond a joke and embarrassing for Audi

I have over 80 pictures and 3 videos which i sent to VWFS
What has the dealer said ?
My dealership was totally onboard and helped me with the rejection.
I have a written guarantee that all will be sorted by November which is why I took the goodwill and didn’t take up rejection

It is a difficult one to sort for Audi....... we sit here on this forum because we found it, how many A3 owners are having issues and do not write about it here....or the other way, how many content owners are there out and about enjoying bug free cars!.......maybe 3 people here have written of a bad experience, or maybe 10.... we cannot get a true ratio of if the A3 8Y is a work or art or a work of repairs!........ How many people who are having care free motoring in there new A3 would come here and say so!...after all we only really google something if we do not know the answer or want to see if others share a common issue....we want verification that our problems are not unique.
The ONLY way this can be sorted is if VW decide to recall a certain batch of builds they are not happy with, because you can bet your last marble they would not risk getting sued, if these are isolated issues which I think they are, then a recall would have been issued by now on late 2019 early 2020 builds....this is not the case thus far, meaning not enough dealerships have reported issues with these cars, so Audi will treat this as isolated glitches and in most cases will leave it to the dealer to sort out for the owner.

**I found this forum because I wanted to fit rear puddle lights to my ED1....I just wanted to know where the screws were to remove the door panel....not because I had a good or bad word to say about the car.

don’t get me wrong here because I absolutely love my A3 which is one of the reasons I decided to keep mine.
there must be hundreds of satisfied owners out there, I’ve asked a few people at the dealership where I got mine from and they have said that they are not getting complaints from many owners and to be fair I’ve had a few new cars from there and I’ve got to know them well so I believe them.

I love mine aswell which is why im so frustrated and upset. The main reason for me coming here is mainly due to the lack of response i get from the dealer and the issues im having vwfs make me believe im making them up and to hear and see quite a few issues the same as mine from random dealers show that its not just me

B.s about a phone causing SOS issues, I've had it pop up a few times with no phone connected.

Typical delay tactics here, did you mention the missing electric seats to them

This is becoming to sound like a bad IT support desk. Remember years ago some support guy said pull the mouse from the usb and see if it still crashes. It didn’t crash but I had no use of the ****** mouse ya idiot.
audi might as well say disconnect the VC and see if you get the errors. To blame it on the phone means they did not do enough testing during development stage and rolled out a product that’s substandard. Considering the 8y was delayed more than once they should have ironed out a lot of issues in that time.

Just read through all of this; what a total shambles from Audi, utterly embarrassing. May have missed it as I only skimmed through the last thread but what dealership is this??

I didnt to be honest but they have removed it from the configurator do you have any evidence of the seats not being in 70 plate models you could send me ? On my audi app it said manually adjustable seats

Hatfield Audi. I hd a 2018 black edition prior from chingford audi and they were legends! Any issues i had which wernt many they were on it hence why i initially had no issue going to another dealer

100% agree i used this exact example. Its madness theyre trying to blame the phone

I’ve had no issues with my S3 since getting it in Feb, fingers crossed. However, a few years back I bought a 1.5 TSi manual T-Roc complete with kangaroo option. I rejected the car and VW finance we’re happy to do the rejection but the dealer not so much, I guess it has a financial implication on them. I eventually sat down with the Sales Manager and said ok, I need a car and cannot be without one, so how can you make this work for me. He eventually offered me a 2.0l manual golf for similar money, so I basically swapped the T-Roc for the golf. I’m convinced the dealer didn’t lose on the deal and I may have, but at the end of the day I was happy and the golf never gave me an ounce of bother. I know your is not engine related, I will never touch a VAG car with the 1.5TSi engine again.

Just got this email from them:

"I am contacting you to provide you with information about an issue that has been identified concerning the front seats on this vehicle. As you may be aware, the standard specification for the Edition 1 trim includes electrically adjustable front seats.

However, it has recently come to light that your vehicle has been built without this specification and as such the front seats are manually adjustable – allowing for manual adjustment of seat height, seat longitudinal position, backrest angle, headrest and belt height.

This is the case for a limited number of vehicles already built, but Audi has amended the error to ensure all future Edition 1 orders are built correctly.

Customer care is a number one priority for Audi UK and we would like to take this opportunity to make amends. With this in mind, I have passed your case to a Customer Relations Manager, who will be in contact within two working days, Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00. This is to ensure that the issue is managed correctly and that the appropriate advice is offered.

In the meantime, I apologise for any inconvenience and hope that you are enjoying the vehicle."

Drop me an email to auzzam_crd@hotmail.com and I'll send you across more stuff to help.

Glad I have found this forum, took delivery of my A3 Edition 1 in November. Had intermittent faults appear for a while when I started ignition but then last week had the Electrical fault please stop the vehicle. The screen on the MMI system also keeps going black and rebooting. Audi Assist have been out ran the diagnostics knocked the front door and said which Audi centre do you want this recovering to? Basically said it is an alternator issue, hadn't even touched on the MMI issue or vibration/knocking sound from wheel or steering I had also mentioned. From what I have read the replacing the alternator may not even fix this?

Have also just realised the car does not have the electric seats either and should have done as standard - it is a personal lease plan with ALD Automotive, how am I best to address this? Am I too late to start the rejection process - the car was delivered end of December due to lockdown I have barely used it and could not get it booked into an Audi centre ended up calling Audi Assist yesterday after the fault changed to electrical fault.

Its clear from other reports on here that the MMI-related issues are not due to an alternator fault. Its not too late to reject the car, but will be more complicated now you are outside the initial 30 day period, especially with a finance company involved. There will almost certainly be 'usage charges', even though you haven't actually used the car that much. Do you have records (emails to Audi dealer, etc) of all the faults and when they started? Best advice is to talk to ALD, as they own the car after all. They should know all the procedures, formalities etc. If they don't (or don't support your request), you may have a struggle on your hands. Incidentally, my local Audi dealer have been taking servicing bookings since early April, so I am surprised you haven't been able to get it looked at by them. Audi Assist are there to 'get you going', not to diagnose/fix complex intermittent faults.

I will speak to ALD in the first instance then. The Audi centre had a backlog since taking bookings again and couldn’t get the car in until the end of July. Therefore as it was showing an electrical fault I rang Audi Assist who were able to run a series of tests and diagnose it was the alternator.
