They're mostly transient members anyway because of delivery lead time delays only reason they come on here is to complainOooohh the 8y gang won't like this
At least they have a valid reason to complain. You come on here to complain about a car you do not even own!
Yeah l don't own/ rent one but l know enough about the model to know better as to not to get one

And, having done a large amount of research, I know enough about the model to know that it is a car that works for me, at a price that I am happy to pay, which is why I now own one.
I think that people sometimes forget that we all have different priorities when it comes to buying cars, and also that times and fashions change.
Just because we personally don’t like a car, doesn’t make it a bad car. It’s just personal preference. I wouldn’t buy a TT, jassy06, but I wouldn’t try to stop you from buying one based on my subjective opinion.
It is definitely true to say that there are a number of 8V owners who wouldn’t buy an 8Y: and that’s fair enough, they just need to look elsewhere for their next car. However, that doesn’t mean that the 8Y is a bad car.
The S3 8Y design like l have said from the start its a face lifted 8v and brings nothing new to the table that's why most S3 8v owners won't buy it
The 8Y in every other model designation is more acceptable as your paying far less money for them ..there's a facelift version arriving in 2 years time and that can only be improve its marmite styling
I don't care if you wouldn’t buy a TT mate ...but wouldn’t it be nice if the 8y's interior was put together like the TT 's again the facelift should resolve at least some of the interior issues

I know you don’t care, Jassyo06: that is exactly my point. We don’t care that you wouldn’t buy an 8Y, either. Yet you feel the need to continually say so.
How much would it increase the cost of an 8Y if it was “built to the same standard” as a TT? Because I don’t want to pay more for that: I’d rather pay for matrix lights, or driver assist, or any number of other options.

What features are on about? Your also forgetting how FUBAR Audi's trim and optional extras structure is in the UK....All the **** ups in this particular model are as long as my arm
and don't blame it on WLTP nor Corona
All this just adds up....making the 8y a very unattractive proposition there's a 8y owner/member on here who has just chopped his edition 1 8y in for an 19 plate 8v S3 and loves it

What’s FUBAR about the trim and optional extras packages apart from some initial teething problems?
Yes, there are some software teething problems. And yes they can be a bit of a nuisance. But they don’t fundamentally make the car an unattractive proposition - at least not for me - and I have confidence that they will ultimately be fixed. As you’ve said before, buying a new model in the first year is a risk. And the new A3 is not unique in this.
There’s another owner on here who bought an 8Y and swapped it with another 8Y because they liked the car so much, despite the problems they had with their original car.
Lets not forget that the 8Y is regarded as being better to drive than the old model. It is safer. It is more economical (lower drag and mild hybrid options). The MMI software is more responsive, modern, sharper and all trims get virtual cockpit and Apple / Android CarPlay as standard.
(And, personally, I much prefer the way it looks - inside and out - to the older model. But then if we all thought the same thing, we’d all be driving the same car and the world would be a more boring place... and with far fewer car designers ;-)
