Can’t agree more. The 8V just didn’t do it for me with the stuck on display outdated interior. The 8Y does finally look much more modern inside and more aggressive on the outside than the normal A3 whereas the difference in a 8V especially in non sport addition was minimal. IMHO

I looked at a white S3 saloon today and l am still not convinced by its overall design it looks ungainly from some angles 3/4 view/side on frontal/rear on yeah it looks more aggressive than a 8V but the 8v fl overall is a better looking car always will especially the Saloon
I'll accept the 8y sportback is a good looking car

piano black plastic - there is very little if any, internally. Vorsprung & Carbon has "Full decorative carbon inlays" & "Aluminium Interior Elements" as far as i can see, only the inlay around the gear shifter remains (the outer of the centre console is 'aluminium'). If we could spec the design packs that would add more gloss black, so personally I'm glad they are not available - I also dont have to decide if i want to spend another £800/1000! Exterior - yes plenty of Gloss black, but thats a good thing, unless you prefer carbon of course.
Touchscreens - yes modern - I remember when all phones had buttons
Inferior plastics! - any plastic is inferior and how often do you feel it to see if its soft!
Muted sound - yes, unfortunately its the OPF price we pay to still get a 5 pot ICE - some day we'll be all electric!
Price wise the current £1345 VED tax don't help.
Stuck on screen or should i be more specific centre display. At least with a TT you don't get it! Wasn't a fan, although the old A45 was far worse.

Retractable screen..... the 8y's touchscreen mmi is stuck on/in but it is 4 inches larger and far less user friendly but aesthetically it's far more more pleasing to the eye but has a lot of issues right now l post as l see it l aint deluded or a wannabe get a RS3 Like yesterday its far too expensive car for me just to jump in feet first l need to justify this a £65k car and it has to suit my own personal taste before l buy it especially inside
As far as total reliance on a one screen car l found my eyes steering towards the retractable screen on my last car 90% of the time as there is far too much info on a VC for info that's required at a blink of an eye these points to come to ahead after living with a car
VED tax doesnt bother me been paying since it was introduced
The RS3 8Y starting price is roughly £6k more than the 8v fl started at....but really does that matter as it's mostly shrugged off with a PCP Deal.......eh

l dont downgrade mate l just want the best example of the car l buy and Audi aint got that on offer right now

Had my RS3 4 years was ready for changing, no RS3 in sight and the Merc was a great replacement in many ways over my pre-fl RS3. It’s a razor sharp weapon with lots of great tech but I miss the 1 thing that retained my attention with the RS3: 5 cylinder sound & a decent sports exhaust. Yes I know it won’t sound as good as my pre-fl but that’s just how it is now I’m afraid with nanny standards on sound. BUT it will sound a heap better than the 4cylinder Merc and to me that’s very important. I know it’s not for you but you’ll have to accept for me it is. Yes the new RS3 has its issues and niggles but I’m of the opinion that if you want a ‘new’ car with the best sound possible ‘today’ in this category of car then the RS3 will still be top of the list. So no rose tinted specs, no bad decision on the Merc just getting an RS3 now one is available to order again and yes I’m pretty excited at the prospect. Chances are I’ll get a face lift when they come too as it is possible I may hold onto that for quite some time if the anti petrol brigade get their way.
the biggest mistake I made was thinking I would be happy with a 4 cylinder again - I under estimated just how important the soundtrack was to me. I thought I could live without but I couldn’t. Yes we live and we learn. Even us older ones lol

Jumped out of my 8V saloon to cash in on the bubble… then went and jumped straight into an M2 comp 2 weeks later, in said bubble 
… got to say come March I’ll have an order in for a Vorsprung Saloon, I’ll likely be opting for an Audi exclusive colour too!

Was told for Vorsprung edition "may be" week 48 by dealer when I ordered. No confirmation from Dealer yet.
I have build week 43 and was one of the first orders in the UK apparently. No mention of hand over though - not sure how they can quote that.
Don't suppose anyone knows where Audi Stirling's prep center/yard is? They have a Kyalami Green RSQ3 down there apparently, was hoping to eyeball it to see the colour.
I placed my order on 13th Aug so hopefully i’m near the front, although i’m not confident it entirely works that way. Most importantly, while i’m fanning about on colours, i need to work out how long i’ve got to firm up the choice before it’s too late.
They have a Kyalami Green TTS Black Edition in their showroom just now.

I ordered mine at Ayr, the guy said to me he gets 6 orders a year and mine was order number 1. Would be class if ours both arrive at the same time to see the colour differences

got an email today saying mine to should arrive at the dealer at the end of November
If my build week of 43 goes ahead that's the last weekend in October so mine should be mid to end of November with me as well. Turbo Blue will look nice with the carbon bits too.
Email from dealer, no update on my Vorsprung edition order and will update again in 2weeks. I am the 4th order for a new RS3 at this dealer.
No update on my Vorsprung either. This is what my agent said.
“Builds are an ETA. Audi are quoting 6-9 months from time of order. Build dates move forward and back constantly until it gets locked in. For example it could show build week 43 today then change to build week 52 tomorrow, then change to build week 25 2022 next week then move forward again the following week, all until the build week gets locked in by the factory.”
Similar was said when I placed the order... "probably end of Nov". Could have checked ourselves if the build tracker was was online for the public, alas no.
Hi all. New member here. Have had my order of a Kyalami Green RS3 confirmed. Moving into the world of the RS from a Golf GTI (always wanted an RS3 so chuffed to be getting one). Went for the Vorsprung without the ceramics. Slightly disappointing that the interior pack isn’t available. I did think about waiting but the trusty GTI is 3.5 years into the PCP now so it’s time to go
I’m sick of waiting already haha. I put my initial deposit down the day after they began taking the orders. Wearside Audi said I was the first ‘new order’ customer (guy the day before was wanting the launch edition after they’ve done whatever they do with it) so the first build slot they have. Took about 9 days for them to faff around with the finance so hoping that doesn’t change things much. He was honest with his delivery estimates so just hoping it doesn’t end up having a 2 at the end of the year….
