I get the restricted visibility warning every now and then, most of the time when it's raining heavily so it's understandable. However, it often happens when it's particularly sunny on damp mornings as the sensors are overloaded with light from from the sun and the road. I have not put this down to a fault with the sensor in my car, more to do with a poor design. I often carry a cloth in the car and wipe over the grille sensor if it's wet or dirty.

To be honest I'm getting fed up with the whole thing now. I've had the restricted visibility one mentioned above, I've had parking sensor not functional (but then fine after next start), I've had a warning about the lights (also fine after restart), now a tire pressure warning and I've checked all the tyres and they're fine. Don't know if you can reject a demonstrator but I've had just about enough.

I’ve had the tyre pressure warning twice on a trip to Wales recently. Pressures absolutely fine both times. Not had it in the last week, touch wood. I also had a pre-sense restricted warning today in the blazing sun!
Car is going in to the dealers for recall updates and a dashboard crack (that I didn’t cause) on Friday. So hopefully all my electronic gremlins will be sorted.

Sadly I've had way more gremlins since the recall update than before...

The reduced visibility warning isn’t triggered by your car’s sensors. The little mast icon in the corner of the warning message indicates that it is from Car2X (ie from another car further up the same road, probably one where the driver has switched on their fog lights).

Gave up and lodged a complaint with Audi today - I've only driven 1k miles since I've had it and I'm sick of the warning lights and "quirks" of a supposedly premium car.

Wait, theres' another sensor on the grill? Thought there was only 2 sensors behind the rear-view mirror facing forwards?

My pre-sense sensors have been triggered couple of times, yes they were triggered correctly, I was thinking at the time, I should really start branking now, and tada, pre-sense triggered. Haven't found if there is an actual automatic braking by itself yet like my previous car. SOS fault always pings at around the same location (near ish to blackwall tunnel) so I guess that's working (no/low network?) despite a 'fault' coming up. Other sensor faults/pings, well hey, guess I have more variety to look forward to!

Was also wondering if the car brakes following a pre-sense alert if the driver didn't take action. Does it?

Havent been brave enough to leave it that late yet... Previous car it even triggers when a motorcyclist cuts across me...

I’ve had it come on once but it did not brake and I am not sure if it does. I would like to think it did if it had too . I was surprised it was only a visual notification on the dash. My golf gave in audible sound as well which alerted you better than just a visual indication.
Does anybody know if the car brakes when doing a parking manoeuvre. A few times my golf stopped me on my drive before I hit the plant pots. I somehow think the A3 would not do that!

No idea - but my Golf was rather selective - it stopped m reversing into our plant pots (like you) but failed to notice the skip that I reversed into!

If the system is the same as on my S5 and the wifes Q3 then yes pre sense will definitely apply the brakes if needed and you won’t miss it.

How hard the brakes are applied depends on the individual situation including the system even applying extra braking if it detects you are not breaking hard enough to avoid a collision.

from experience it’s usually been trigged at roundabouts or junctions when other cars have suddenly breaked or cut across the front rather than when following another car along the road

So today i decided to press that button on the steering that's voice command, said 'hey Audi, I'm feeling warm' car replied 'what temp would u like' 16, and the car set it to 16. So that works! I don't recall anyone mentioned they had it and it works or does not work. Wonder what else i can ask the car to do.

My old *** software (even though updated recently) and hardware (USB A and C) combo can’t do this. I’m convinced that my August 2020 built car has old processors so can’t do half the things I was told it could like decent voice commands. Annoying.

Mine does this but if you have ‘Hey Audi’ turned on in the settings you do not have to press the steering wheel button, just say the phrase.
it would be good to have a complete list of what the voice control can do. Apart from the usual phone and messaging I have found out you can control the temp and turn on the heated seats. I tried the control the sunroof but that did not work.

I think I am right that if you say help I will list out all the commands that it can do.
I mostly use the voice feature to ring numbers on the mobile or to dictate a text. I sometimes use it to change radio station or play my USB playing.

I wonder if this info is in the manual......problem is the manual is very comprehensive and I've avoided those usually

It's on page 30 of the manual - but no list of what it can do. Only way I did it was trial and error - and my saying Hey Audi - then saying nothing. A list then appears on the screen.

I forgot about changing the radio stations. I found that one out. Like you say it does give you a list of things it can do if you say nothing or ask for help, but the list is not everything it can do. I just sat in the car one afternoon while waiting for my wife and asked it anything that came into my head to see what worked.

When looking for 'hey audi' settings, so now I don't even have to press that button, I just say it! also noted that I can even turn the wifi hotspot on! wondering if anyone know if all A3 8Ys come with some free data or unlimited data for hot spot?

Does anyone else have a 2020 car with USB B/C and can confirm that their voice control is limited e.g can’t control the Air Con. in fact, mine doesn’t even allow ‘Hey Audi’ as far as I can see.

I had an older model with the B/C usb and can confirm that.

The voice command did almost nothing, and definitely couldnt control the heating systems at all

What annoys me is that before the car was released, all the press videos banged on about the 10x more powerful processor and the ‘Hey Audi’ stuff.

and those press cars they def had 1 USB A and 1 USB C.

On a separate note, does anyone actually use the built in Sat Nav? If yes, anyone has theirs set to display 'time remaining till destination' as the current default is 'time arriving at destination' and it's sooo difficult for me (in my head) to calculate how much longer is my journey. I spent a good 5-6 mins in settings but couldn't find it. Did manage to find 'alternative routes' though, so that's something new for me.

Car going in again on Weds to try and resolve the spurious warnings. This is the last go, if it doesn't get resolved this time I'm trading it in.

Just about had enough of Audi's ***** customer service, I’ve been looking at deals on Golf GTI clubsports, if I can get a good deal on one of those then I’ll be seriously considering jumping ship.

love the S3, but it’s taking far too long to sort some of these issues out. Doubt I’ll buy another Audi after this.

Golf’s seem to have issues as well. Apparently the car keeps randomly slowing down by itself as it confuses mph with kph.
Other glitches as well.

IIRC, even in the newer cars the more advanced speech recognition has to be explicitly enabled (it uses the data connection). The default, car based, recognition system is more basic.
I’ve recently discovered that I can control satnav voice navigation (off, compact, full) with voice commands, which is useful as they otherwise take a few button presses to get to (unless someone knows a short-cut?)

Golf have the same issues. Friend at work has the GTi clubsport and has endless faults and error codes around the MMI system.

Only picked my A3 up on Friday but already had a warning that pre-sense wasn’t functioning, the car will be going back In, in the not to distant future to have a DashCam fitted, I’ll get them to look at any fault then as well.

Was your pre-sense error at switch on? Was the car parked near something? Did it clear soon after driving off? If so, it’s more likely a nuisance software bug rather than an indication of a pre-sense fault. (I think there’s a fix for it.)

Correct, it was on my drive with another car in front, it cleared when I deactivated the service and re-enabled it. I'll see how I go.

Hmm I’ve not seen anything widely reported, but i guess there are always going to be issues and it comes down to how it’s handled. Audi have been awful, I’ve had issues with VW in the past. But they’ve always put it right, at least they appear to value a customer.

I’ve also heard similar from a friend of my brother who has recently bought a Golf R.

No MMI faults to report, all working well - well that is of course after I finally managed to get the myaudi app to work properly after three days of telling me I had tried too many passwords and locked me out - only real issue is that it took an entire commute (45mins) to complete the key user update in the MMI - glad I did not try that one on the drive...

Mine's in the dealer again today to try and work out why I'm getting lots of (spurious) warnings. :|
