Interior trim - piano black

Probably an unpopular opinion but I’m really not into the piano black trim in my black edition A6. The centre console is scratched (like this when I bought the car unfortunately) albeit very fine hairline scratches it really annoys me! Does anyone know where I can buy a brushed aluminium version (standard S line trim) without having to go to Audi and pay a small fortune for it? Done some Googling but doesn’t seem to be something that’s readily available. …or perhaps someone has aluminium and fancies a swap for piano black? I can live with the door inlays but much prefer the dash and centre console in aluminium.

Boring post I know but it’s bugging me!

I hadn’t but that’s not a bad idea. I do love the brushed aluminium I had on my last car though!

Does anyone else have the scratching issue? …can’t actually under why Audi would use such an easily damaged material for the interior trim on a high end family car!

I got piano black in my A7, same issue. Scratches very easily. I’ve also seen people use cutting compound and then buff it to remove the scratches.
Most of the A6/A7 trim is easy to remove for wrapping. But the centre console could be a bit of a ball ache.

I just sold an A7 before I got the A6 - 2013 and the ali trim was like new. The 2017 A6 black edition is a different story! the ali is so much more durable. I personally think it looks classier as well and brightens up the cabin

There's some stuff on eBay - usually from Poland or Lithuania. This for example. A very useful add since it lists all the part numbers.
With these you can check the prices with a dealer - then you can get new, unmarked items.

Surface scratches buff out quite well to the point they never existed, also deeper ones also can be removed, I have rubbed them flat with wet & dry then polished back to shiny black with some g3 normal then g3 fine.

Brushed aluminium wrap is tough on tight corners and curves though. Its not an easy vinyl to work with. But I would wrap it as its the easier cheaper option. Just wouldn't use that wrap personally.
 
Quixx acrylic polish is good to remove the swirls, quick and easy and good results.. removed lots of swirls and scratches on the first go for me and have loads left to do it again, £8 a tube and applicator.

In brushed aluminium? I could be depending on price and which way I go with this. Let me know what you've got and what you'd want for it. Thanks Mo
 
For a more cost infective solution, I would consider wrapping the parts. There is plenty of high quality wraps on the market these days. Have a look for a wrapper in your area, and go have a look at what’s available.

Will obviously be cheaper if you can disassemble the parts and just have them do the wrap :thumbs up:
