Just thought id pop a little update on my thoughts so far on the 034 street density rubber engine mounts i fitted last weekend. So far I've done a good few motor way trips, urban driving and a mix of steady and spirited driving, so i think its a fair opinion on the product.

I'll start of with the advantages

The mounts have took a vast amount of slack and play from the engines movement, meaning its nice and slick between the gears and pick up feels good. Handling in the corners feels a more composed too, especially considering the engine placement in a B7 does anything but aid handling. Also loosing the fluid filled style mounts stops reduces the likelyhood of potential failure in the future.

Unfortunately for me the biggest downside with these mounts and the vibrations at idle. I was expecting and increase, but its verging on excessive for me personally and tbh im in two minds wether these are for me after sitting in a long line of traffic the other day. Also i seem to find myself going for an extra gear now when cruising at 70 in 6th, could ve down to the resonance through the car increasing the sound makes it seem like its reviving more now?

So on the whole a good performance mod, if your happy to loose that touch of comfort inside.

Alex

Hi Alex, nice write up on the 034's.
They are what one could safely describe as an acquired taste , and , not to everyone's taste.
I did consider them myself but a fair few others have made the same comments about low rpm vibrations being a tad irritating, hence why I went back to fluid-filled ones.
They are good quality items but maybe not the best option for a daily driver or commuter car, maybe for a more occasional or sporty usage car they are 1st class.

I hated the vibration i was getting from the failed OE items so i can fully understand your situation Alex, engine vibrations can make a nice car into horrid car sometimes.

If it were me I'd just go back to the filled items and write it off to experience.
The problem, well it's not a problem as such, but most of 034's products are very sport orientated which may not always be the best formula for a road car used under normal conditions.

just my input Alex.

I didn't notice much increase in vibration to be honest, but yet again my car is a CVT which is notorious for vibration. The engine is much more firm and the handling is a bit better. Im really concerned about the quality and life span to be honest.

Had these for over a year now and didn’t find a massive change in vibrations when fitting, that said the stock mounts were completely shot.
Definitely feel they are an improvement on my set up, everything feels tighter and more controlled up front.

Seems where all in a similar boat then with these mounts. Im going to sit on them for a while and sort other jobs first and see how i feel about them in a few months

Maybe if you drive it long enough with them fitted Alex they maybe become more the norm, best see how it goes really.
