Just noticed a deep scratch in my dashboard, very deep you can put your nail in it… no idea where this has come from just noticed it today, so say in ****** off is an understatement.

Is interior damage covered on the warranty? Looks like the entire silver piece will need replacing…

It definitely wouldn’t be covered under warranty, unless it was there when you bought the car. The cheapest option would be to get it wrapped I’d have thought….

Mine cracked last year and they replaced it under warranty. I think the tech suggested it’s about a £600 part. It does seem prone to scratching though. My wife is on best behaviour with handbags!

Worth a shot? Not sure about self fitting difficulty or cost for dealer to do it?

I presume yours cracked due to poor fitting or a bad batch and not accident damage which is why they replaced for free? £600 for a strip of plastic!

I assume this scratch was caused by the owner and definitely won't be covered by warranty.

I have car OCD and that would really irritate me but for £600 I would learn to live with it or fill with a touch up pen.

To be honest I can’t say for certain that we didn’t cause it. However, my dealer couldn’t explain how it could have happened without being faulty so replaced. Very lucky I guess.

You were lucky, some dealers wouldn't have even bothered to send that to Audi for costing authorisation.

That part of the dash jutting out is prone to being hit as you get in the car, especially my daughter with her schoolbag

Would this not be a case of "not fit for purpose" or of sufficient quality? One would assume a premium car such as this would be made of material of high quality and a part as prominent as the dash trim should surely have some form of protection? I only argue this case as I have literally babied this car and done everything I can to protect it, even paid for a ceramic coating so despite my obsessive protection I've still got damage... on a car that's only a few months old.

Audi can't really be held accountable for other people scratching their own cars. It would be like saying that if someone keyed your car you could go back to your dealer saying the cars paint finish isn't fit for purpose and ask them to respray it for free. I have stone chips on the front bumper, I wouldn't dare go back to the dealer and say the paint is too thin as it wouldn't hold water.

The piece of plastic you refer to isn't the best quality granted, but any material will scratch if gauged hard enough. I had an A4 a couple of years back, had good quality aluminium on the dash but I dropped a bunch of keys on it and chipped/dented it. My fault, my bad and I learned to live with it.

Haha, love it! Same here, previous car, I noticed on the black piano black trim on the door (near the window edge), on the passenger side there were mutiple scratches, but driver's side none, then realised somebody closes the door with their palm on the hand (which has jewelery) always on that part, and not by using the door handle! :(. Likewise once, someone took off their bag, and the metal strap scratched the dash ( downward motion on previous car), so like you, my other half is now on best behaviour regarding these two points! Next one up, trailing belts and from long coats when entering the front passenger door! Didn't have this problem in the warmer weather, haha! Already had to use touch up paint on that one...

That piece its under 200 I think

I can hwlp.replace it if you can come.to london

;)
