SOS Call malfunction contact workshop

2 days wasted now. Audi still saying no updates available even when I mentioned the SOS fix which seems to be key to this. They’ve had my car in twice and done nothing other than damage my steering wheel then repair it. I’d have been better off not bothering.
That's terrible - I don't understand why the fix isn't there - They said yes that's available with mine before they even plugged it in - It's not just the SOS part which only happened to me once anyway, it also includes an MMI update which seems to be quite significant

Well it's available for everyone else and your car is the same build time as mine and as you know mine was done 2 weeks ago

They’ve checked that and it states there’s a software update related to this so that’s what they’re trying next. I’ve no idea why they didn’t have the brains to check that anyway as they were well aware of the SOS issue when I mentioned it.

they’ve also managed to delete my satnav database, so **** knows how they’ve managed that. No sat nav until I get it booked in now. No biggie but the level of incompetence is rapidly approaching ridiculous.

The Sat Nav delete is common and should be known by them that they have to reconfigure this

You need 3620 version

i got new rs3 build in 02.22 has this software and got no problems so far so think that solve the problem
I was being sarcastic. The discussions in this thread cover it already mate

I still can’t get the remote locking to show in the app but do have TSR via the German site - mine has 2 x USB C’s

I’m not that bothered by the remote locking but would have liked to get it to work
I had a 70 plate A3, and no remote locking available on the app. Just picked up a 22 plate and must have the update as I have the 3rd screen on the MMI and remote locking via the app is now there. App also updates status correctly now whereas for the 70 plate more often then not it would not update. Seems they have made quite a few IT updates to iron out initial issues.

Definitely part of the update, as my 70 plate got remote locking and the third screen as part of the SOS update. It had been in the workshop *plenty* times apart from that for software updates so was as up to date as it could have been previously.

Strangely I've always had the 3rd Screen - Mines a 70 Plate S3 November 2020

I've had the SOS update now as well and can activate the TCR from the German Site which I couldn't do before, but still no locking from the APP - I agree the syncing can be a bit random - Digital services say I just don't have remote locking on my car - They can't say why and don't offer the chance to have it via an update

I give up

Only bought our car Saturday its a 21 plate it's on this version and we are getting sos malfunction so I guess it needs an update to fix the problem ?

Seems Audi service make it up as they go along.......took my car in for a service, thery told me it was finished and could I come collect it..... drove 30miles to Audi Plymouth....got in the car and they had not activated the licences for the sat nav, the drive select did not work....I got out the car and said the car had issues....I was told it needed to go back to the workshop...!.....next day got the car all seemed ok, the mmi was sluggish and despite them saying the software had been updated it was the same version number before it went to them!....nice lie.....after 4 weeks the sat nav went down, the wifi says low data`....the maps have gone basic and the tab for the sat maps in the settings has gone!....called Audi Plymouth, they said it take 2-7 hours to re-install the software....so I tried Audi Exeter, they basically said Plymouth had not installed the software or re-activated it properly when they had the car!!!! he also said to call them to sort it out as they could not do it because Plymouth had started the job!....phoned Audi Plymouth, service had gone home......so it looks like I have to take the car back and do a 60 mile round trip to try and get the car fixed by a company that does not even check the work they have done before giving it back to a customer!!!!.....great quality control from Marshall Audi Plymouth.....I wish I got a merc now or bmw....Audi customer care is zero......oh and I was told customers are waiting upto 3 days for callbacks because of staff being off work....a joke to say the least.

I asked many questions......why was there not an update on the car? was told the updates are chassis based and for my car edition1 dec2020build there was no update.......Exeter Audi checked my model and said there was an update for that chassis!!!
Why was the car not checked before being handed back to me?................no answer!...other than its `very complicated!!`...
Why do I have to keep driving 60 miles in order for them to fix issues they created?.......yet to be sorted.
These issues are not user related, I am smart with computers so understanding a `tablet` in a car is hardly rocket science.....but these guys in service are supposed to know there stuff....not hand a car back that is half working, sometimes!!!....and they want me to trust the safety systems within the car when they cannot even install software!!!....... Maybe Audi has it eyes on F1, if it has then it better improve its customer support because in 2026 they might find themselves not selling as many units to support this F1 venture....I do not suspect people in Germany suffer this lack of customer care, its probably just overpaid grease monkey`s reading the sun newspaper whilst they repair your car here in the UK......because the standard is not only poor service but confliting rubbish about updates.....bottom line is the car has issues and they need fixing or this car will be left on the Audi site and I will simply take them to court for breach of warranty....the car should be checked after work is completed, not left to a customer to discover...and there is no excuse as how the hell do I know if they have bothered to tighten the wheel nuts!......... one more chance then they can get stuffed.

Just a strange note.....Exeter Audi said they were going to speak to the area manager as Plymouth Audi do this often......!!?! meaning Plymouth Audi mess up on a daily or weekly basis?!!!.....they are cheesed off (polite way) with Plymouth asking customers to go to Exeter......and the woman at Plymouth did say `have you tried Exeter?`...I replied I got the car from Plymouth, then last month Plymouth serviced it, now they fked it up they want me to go Exeter!!!......as I said....can you really trust these people.....I even said to the guy in Exeter I hope they have not taken the `chip` out the mmi and put some older one in, because the mmi is so sluggish.....why should I even think that, thats how much faith I have lost in these people messing with my car!!!...crazy.

There is a map update on the German site, just switch to german on myAudi....log in, then you will find a Euro map update from 2021-Sept.....its around 23gig in size, download it and unpack the rar file to a Fat32 32gig usb-c drive.....put it in the ubs-c in the car and turn on the car...it shoudl pick the updated file up and prompt you to install it....it will take nearly an hour to install....and £5 in petrol!.......there is no map update on the UK myAudi...as usual!...UK customers get sweet FA....you can also find FOD on the german myAudi login....just have a translator ready as its all in german. (search the forum for FOD and it will explain all, including how to get a german address)....not sure if they have all been removed now for the A3....seems FOD is only for A4 and above now....I could be wrong.
MyAudi below....not the app......click on the union jack top right, click where it says United Kingdom....drop down and select Germany......now log in to your account, once in go to Funktionen and you will see the zip download for the maps.....remember when you log out just switch back to UK after...unless you can read German...or are German!!!.....

Exact same thing happened to me at West London Audi – they did the update but didn't install any licences so Drive Select, CarPlay etc. all unavailable. Really hoping they don't do it again during the update it's in for at the moment.

I've had nothing but issues with Audi Plymouth. I too had the car taken in for the update, took a before picture of the software versions and when the car came back nothing had been done despite being told it had been fixed.

Left it for a few months and the car went back in last week, only to be told a software update needed to be applied to correct the issues! No sh%t, thats why you have it, then told they dont have time and it will need to be rebooked.

They had time to do a car inspection and tell me I needed 4x new tyres all with 4.6mm tread left............I think not but a non car person might be worried and be pressured into this.

They alone have put me off getting another Audi.

hello Everyone from Turkey. i have a3 saloon we also have sos problem wth our cars. our dealer announced sos update however wireless apple car play doesnt work anymore.

Picked up a 21 plate 40 TFSIe used last month from Reading Audi. It has the MMI reboot issue and the SoS issue.
I was told the software update for my car to fix these issues is not out yet but is due out next month!
They apparently can't "squeeze me in" until the end of June!

First Post on this Forum, glad to see so many knowledgeable people on Audis...

I have a leasing on a S3 which o got on June 2021 and i was receiving since then lot of MMI restarts/re loading and also not recognizing my user...

Just today i got the SOS Malfunction at the same time my user was not recognized. Wat i was observing during these months is that everytime the My Audi App is not connecting, and the car is not having its internal internet connection with at least 1 line, its always doing weird stuff... Just checked again few seconds ago a my user was recognized, no sos alert and my audi app ia online...

Hate this kind of things in cars... btw i'm living in Switzerland.

Report this to Marshalls area manager and Audi UK.

Hey Howett. how did the update go?
Has it fixed the SOS call malfunction and phone handsfree not working?

Great! That's good to hear. The issue has been happening loads for me too driving around London. Will be so happy once it is fixed.
I have booked mine in for Tuesday.

So about 18months after I started this Thread about the SOS call malfunction, I had 2 software updates this week and it has fixed the issue. My handsfree doesn't fail and the SOS warning no longer appears. Also the MMI no longer reinitialises when signed logged in as the key user.
Like @howett said it is like having a new car.
Shame VW Group didn't invest in fixing this fault since 2017 when it first appeared (as stated in the Guardian article).

I have had my current A3 for 18 months and it has never appeared once until today on the M4. Very strange

I live and work in the Thames Valley and this issue plagues me daily. My car is booked in for an update in June!, so fingers crossed this fixes it.

I have recently had cause to drive up to York to stay with friends. Not once on the 4 hour drive up there or back again did this issue happen. The commute the next day however it was back to it's old tricks.

When I bought the car, they mentioned something about the ATC radio traffic interfering with their radio comms (for maintenance updates I think). My experience last weekend has helped to cement that idea. It doesn't fix it, but maybe someone will find it useful.

I've just come back from a service in Watford Audi who say there's no software update yet.

My car was in with Amersham Audi today, dropped off this morning and done by 2pm. I have the new software update and up to date version of Maps. One issue I have now, which I can't work out how to fix, is that my user profile has a padlock next to it, and I can't seem to get it to load. When I select the myAudi user option, after entering my email and password it appears to load for 15 secs and then goes back to the log in screen. Anyone else had these issues and any idea how to resolve?

hi Eren. I am from Turkey too. The service called for the update, but because of the Wireless canceling I didn't updated the car. Did you have the update? Any problems with SOS or wireless?

Really quite annoyed with Reading Audi. Waited two ****** months to get my car in to get the software update done which they said would be available and now they're telling me because my car is the "e-tron", there's no software update available for the "known issue".

Has anyone who has a A3 TFSIe had the software update that has fixed the issue? Was it the 3632 release?
