Hello, I got a very strange problem and not been able to find an explanation, or anyone else experienced and the same thing and got out of it. I was having a weak battery in my Audi A4 B8, when I decided and remove it for charging at home. The battery was on charge for couple of days outside of the car. When I put the battery back into the car the music system volume started going mute in between, and after another ignition start the system is showing the component protection active and the music system is playing with no volume. The radio will play suddenly when like there is a traffic announcement is on and then will go back to mute after the announcement. The Sat Nav and telephone connected to phone works all fine, its the music system that has been blocked the volume on. What has caused this as the same battery was put in no change in components, can anyone help please?

When cp is active, the sound system does these wonderful things & you need to get cp removed.

Yes I thought so as well, but what I did not get it is there are no components replaced just a battery charged and placed back, why would it cause a CP? Could this be in error, would a battery coding fix the issue, or is it wrong way the battery has been connected, any easier way to try n fix this before I go for CP removal from the dealer which can be expensive..

BTW I have an OBDEleven with me if that can help in some way

As I advised, you have to get cp removed, it happens sometimes with battery issues, you won't know if it's an ongoing issue until it's attempted to be removed, if it doesn't turn of then that's when you need to consider other issues, but you maybe can disconnect the battery again for 10 minutes & reconnect, sometimes it remembers the vin again.

Some properly equipped VW Group Indies are also able to remove CP, my local one did it for me and it only cost 0.45 hour.

Good to know that trap could be in there though!

So is it assess battery condition before paying to get CP removed just in case it happens to you again when and if you need to replace that battery, I used a battery support device to keep the car happy when I replaced the battery in 2011 B8 S4 a few months ago.

I would disconnect the battery again for 20-30 minutes and see if it sorts itself.
