When it does it, I see CarPlay comes up on the screen of my phone so I assume there was a CarPlay setting on my phone but I can’t see anythingI suffer from this as well and would like to know the answer!
I use Apple CarPlay (wired and wireless) with Spotify installed on my phone and I do not have this problem. So I’m not so sure that it is necessarily the car that is at fault; it could be your phone. The question I would ask is why does your phone keep disconnecting? Once connected, mine stays solidly connected.Forgot about the deactivated bit. I think this is the issue as when the phone reconnects it overrides the radio. The bit I was not sure of was whether the phone or the car was at fault. Judging by this thread it is the car. It’s been like this for 2/12 years and it’s lease is up in 6 months so will just keep pressing the radio icon 5 times every trip.
Though I suppose it could be because I don’t use the radio for long enough periods. How often does it occur?I use Apple CarPlay (wired and wireless) with Spotify installed on my phone and I do not have this problem. If on your phone you go into settings, bluetooth and find the Audi car and press the little i you're then taken into further options and there's an option to turn carplay off so it doesn't start automaticallyMakes me wonder if it’s the phone as when it does it “CarPlay” logo is on the phone as if the app is opening but I can’t see any CarPlay settings to see if there is a setting that is causing this.
Does that mean you then have to just click CarPlay on the mmi each time you get in the car? My issue is I’d have Spotify on for say 10 mins then want to listen to the radio so I’d click on radio, then CarPlay would randomly switch on and boot Spotify and interrupting the radio. AnnoyingIf on your phone you go into settings, bluetooth and find the Audi car and press the little i you're then taken into further options and there's an option to turn carplay off so it doesn't start automatically
When I used to get into my car in the garage and my wife was in the house and she was the last one to use it I would start the car and then suddenly it would connect to her phone and then throw up Carplay - This stopped it so hope it works for you
Well not sure exactly with your issue but it does mean you have to start Carplay manuallyDoes that mean you then have to just click CarPlay on the mmi each time you get in the car? Just select Carplay on the MMI - Once it's off on the phone you don't need to go near that again - It just stops it automatically firing it up which I found annoying when I only wanted the radio onManually as from the car, or do I have to turn it back on from the phone every time I want to use it? I actually find the CarPlay picking up automatically a bit annoying since I'm not using it all the time, but it drains the phone battery even though I'm not using it. But if I have to go through the phone menus every time I wan to use the CarPlay, then it's worse that way.
Fingers crossed it works for youOk, thanks! I've been wanting it to work like that since the beginning but had no idea it could actually be done.
Unfortunately it didn't. When I tap the CarPlay slider to off in iPhone the car can't activate it. It still finds the phone but if I select it in the MMI it only says "connecting" and then the icon goes dim. Put CarPlay back on in phone and it auto connects right away.Fingers crossed it works for you
Strange mines off and works fine - It's a bit temperamental sometimes - Try using a cable with it off on the phone and see if that triggers it and then try wireless againUnfortunately it didn't. My S3 was November 2020 and had August 2020 software from collection and the Wireless Apple Carplay worked from day 1 but I did have all the software updates which improved the flickering MMI when on wireless carplayOk gotta try that. You got the wireless CarPlay by software update at some point, right? My 2020 A3 only had CarPlay by cable. Worked flawlessly, the problems came with the new car and wireless CarPlay. Funny thing is the CarPlay itself works fine when it's used, but it messes things up when it's running in the background.
Yes the early A3's which came out March 2020 had October 2019 Software which was just ridiculous for a new model and had loads of issues but as the S3 wasn't available to order until about May I think might have even been August they came with the first wave of updates done - I still had 4 after that for the MMI and Camera etc which then allowed me to order Function on Demand as well - Traffic Sign Recognition although had to order it via Audi GermanyOk interesting. My old car was just a bit older than yours and had several software updates as the car was full of glitches but the wireless CarPlay never got activated.
I was told by my dealer that earlier models did not have the hardware required for wireless CarPlay.Ok interesting. My old car was just a bit older than yours and had several software updates as the car was full of glitches but the wireless CarPlay never got activated.
