I've had the car since Oct 2022. And the stop / start function hardly ever works. The last time i remember it working was after a flat battery in Jan. But it hadn't worked for a while before that. And stopped working soon after.

Anyone else.?

I have tried cycling the stop/start.

I'll run a diag on it sometime soon.

I just had an ASN what you have missed email and decided to post while i remember.

Does it throw an error in the display, like "start/stop malfunction, contact workshop"?
Mine has been doing that randomly and the dealer diagnosed it as a faulty battery or faulty battery controle module (J367). They replaced both under warranty. I just got the car back today, so don't know if it actually fixed the problem. But in general, start/stop issues are frequently due to low battery or battery-related problems as the start/stop module checks the battery-status before it activates (which makes sense as start-stopping is taxing on the battery).

It also checks a number of other components before activating, so it is not certain that it is battery-related.

It doesn't show an error on the display. But i don't drive it very often and had a flat once. So maybe there is a battery related issue - i'll look in that. Thanks

It will be because the voltage has dropped below the minimum threshold for it to operate. This will always happen to a car not used very much. I would recommend a trickle charger to stop the battery inevitably deteriorating to a point where replacement is the only option.

Also some things like having dual zone climate with different temperatures set, heated seats, and others can cause it to not function.

Or could just be battery related as others have said.

Haha, it kind of defeats the point doesn’t it?

So glad we don't have the start/stop function in the US. We have it in our Alfa but when the battery is low, as others have mentioned, that function is one of the first to be shut down. I suggest a battery tender. Have it for all of our vehicles.

A BMW with MHT (mild Hybrid technology) pulled away from a drive whilst I was walking the dog, such a smooth take off, it went around 10 feet before I heard the ICE cut in,
