I recently changed my rear pads about 2-3 weeks ago, used VCDS etc and all seemed to go smoothly at the time.

Now though it seems that the drivers side caliper piston doesn’t seem to be totally disengaging and this is causing major friction and heat on the disc.

I can pull away etc, but after a drive the disc is red hot and you can smell it.

I have re-reset the parking brake using VCDS but it made no difference.

Can anyone shed any light on what the issue could be?! I am thinking maybe I need to disassemble the calliper and give it all a good clean annd regrease and put it all back again, but unsure where to go from there.

the caliper is seized... either have it refurbished, replace it with a refurbished one, or buy a refurbish kit and diy.

Yes, I had exactly the same problem immediately after a disc and pad change on my car done by my local Audi/VW specialist. Not an uncommon problem apparently. Just had to dig into my wallet for a replacement calliper, which has been fine.

yeah if you notice it to late or had to drive to long with them like that you'll have to change the lot.
