Soon be fitting side skirt extensions to my FL A3 S-line salon . Any advice on attaching them securely. use the self tappers or body kit adhesive ? Can they be fitted with just a trolley jack to raise the car or do you really need jacks ?

any advice would be much appreciated .

I just used the self tapping screws, no need for adhesive.
Easier to fit using axle stands.
Second pair of hands to help line up the skirt extension makes an easier job.

Are you fitting front splitter ?

You’ll be fine with a jack as long as you can fit your drill in. I used self tappers along with genuine 3M tape, I think it was around £12 from Amazon.

Cheers buddy appreciate the info.front splitter is already fitted as had a local body shop fit it for me. Feel I could manage the skirts myself .

Perfect thanks for that.sorry you saying the trolly jack will be fine as long as the drill can get access ? Only have a trolley jack. I take it the 3m tape is to hold it in place before you secure it with the self tappers ? Or do you prefer tape and the self tappers for a more secure hold ?

I’ve fitted quite a few Maxton bits to various cars and the proper 3M tape is really good stuff and it certainly makes things easier if you’re fitting skirts on your own, you can ‘lightly’ offer the part up before you give it a good press. Then fit five self tappers with a good, course thread. I find Tech Screws have too fine a thread to hold properly. One in each end, one in the middle and the other two in between. Tiger Seal is good too but it can be a bit messy…..

Thats perfect thanks again for the info makes it a great deal easier hearing from owners who have actually fitted them. As I say have a trolley jack here but no jack . Hopefully the trolley jack on its own will be enough but if not will borrow a jack. Car is the s-line so obviously has the Oem skirts / sills fitted so will be putting the self tappers into them. Will take your advice and try pick up some self tappers with a course thread and order that 3m tape from Amazon.

Make sure your trolly jack goes low enough to withdraw it from the car once the skirts are fitted. I once made the schoolboy error of fitting a splitter to an S3 8P using ramps haha.

Yep will do !!

Is it the widest 24mm 3m tape in your link I require as I see they sell a few narrower ones ?

Probably only need 20mm.

Carbond works really well as long as you have the skirts firmly in place whilst it dries.

I used carbond on the front splitter of my old M3, even at 160mph it didn't rip off.
