Thanks for the post. Ran VAGCOM and it said the rear sensor was faulty, so jacked the rear up and checked the links and it was all fine. Free moving and all good.
Any other suggestions before I bite the bullet for £148 for the sensor.....?

Thanks - I had the s4 cab 10 years ago and didn't bother changing my user name! I've been through S3, Rs3 and now back to an A3 140d as a second car, so looking to get it looking right!
A mate has exactly the same issue. Can someone post links to how to get to the drivers side motor and also what needs to be done in VAGCOM as I will be resetting it!?
