This also happened to my BRD. Now sorted with a modified oil pump drive and new turbo. Just think, once the planned obsolescence wipes out most of the B7s the remaining ones will a bit of a rarity.

My oil pump drive packed in and took the turbo with it. As I am keeping my B7 long term I opted to have it all fixed. Otherwise it is a costly fix and you have to weigh up your options vs the value of the car
Ive had my 2.0 TDi BRD 170 for 2 years now and I have never seen any smoke come out the exhaust. Even after giving it some beans to clear out the `cobwebs`. Nothing at all. I was hoping to eject some black sooty mess out the system:yes:
Agreed. OE S-Line suspension is solid and way harder than it needs to be. Since I changed to AP Coilovers the ride on my 235/35/19s is very smooth. Supple and soaks up the bumps. And it sits nice and low :)
Its normally around 100k they go. I have heard of cars with higher mileages that have not yet failed. However as you say it could be a ticking time bomb. The hex drive design is very weak. It is criminal that Audi did not do a recall.
