I've got a 96 1.8 manuel petrol and i bought 40mm lowering springs. The back of the car sits lower than the front so i need to drop it 60mm-40mm. I've been offered some 60mm springs off a 99 1.8t avant, will these fit?
In a thread a few weeks ago you said you removed the rubber alloy insulator and chopped a coil off the spring, i've taken a picture of my suspension below can you show me what i should be removing and where i should be cutting?
Haha! nah didn't fancy dogging at -3 but hey mabe next time...
Can i take the insulating spacers out of mine?
PS what the **** are insulating spacers?
Cheers.
haha.Yeah i'll see how it looks like in a week once fully settled. But i don't want the wheels up in the arches i'm after the standard look but yeah you're right the front is a little high...
I only lowered it yesterday and i'm not too sure if the front will settle a little more but i'm kind of getting used to it now...
So what do you think?
I tried to get the GF to lower the front a bit more...
Why?
I've just had it lowered 40mm all around and i can just about get my finger inbetween the arch and rear wheel but on the front i can fit my whole fist in. (oooh, sailor)
Now the garage told me it will settle but these have been fitted to a car for 100 miles before mine so i dont think...
yup, i'll never live it down. In her eyes she is now the superior driver even though she's never put a car in reverse.
I took it to a garage today and before he even looked at it he told me to get two new pinch bolts. Luckily I want it lowered so i might kill two birds with one stone, well...
