I got one from Ebay this week, £8 odds, fitted and works perfectly, just had to swap the plastic end over as they were different, just clips off and back on.
I use this, it raises the cetane level. Essentially making normal diesel into super diesel. 2ml per litre of diesel do lasts a fair while.

It slots into the back of the camshaft, only fits one way. Pay attention when you take it off, makes things easier.

The fuel pump at the tank is only a lift pump. The one on the engine is a tandem pump. It has two circuits, one provides fuel and the other provides vacuum for the engine.

I had an intermittent problem with rear abs sensor, rust builds up between the mounting point abs the sensor, pushing the sensor closer to the trigger wheel and upsets the air gap. I fitted an eBay discussant at £17, job done.
Is your battery okay, a bad battery can do some strange things on...
Generally it's the top arms that make that noise. Did you check inner track rod ends well?
Some B6's suffer from the steering rack being loose.

Check the coolant flange at the rear of the head, the part that holds the o ring in place erodes away in time (it's just plastic) this takes away the o rings ability to seal.
It leaks down onto the gearbox, you should see tell tale staining from the coolant.

No bushes on the gearbox support, only 6 bolts holding it on, all you need to do is separate the downpipe and centre section and drop the exhaust a little then you can change it over, use original bolts, they will be fine.
A quick pull on the frame would sort it but some people are put off when any frame pulling is required, which I fully understand.

Sorry I should have stated, the car I have now is fwd.
As long as you match quattro box with diff you'll be okay, diff and gearbox code will be on the build sticker in the spare wheel well.
