I have just changed to diesel for a few months while i save for a new car, I had a 8L S3 that did 22 mpg ish and the diesel Golf i am driving at the moment is doing 45+mpg with no problems, I am saving over £40 a week in fuel!

Spesh, Working as full time workshop manager in a cycle store i can tell you i have more issues with Trek frames than Specialized.
EX models of Trek have bearing failure early on and creek there tits off.
Have you looked at the range from Cube? Alot better spec and german back up is going...
Not made any change to my spending habbits, really busy at work and it seems people are still wacking money through our till. We got rid of 1 lad in november but that was down to his quality of work but we givin the reason things were getting tight.
Rockhopper looks nice, just keep an eye on the spoke heads, specialized bikes tend to come with very cheap brittle spokes. Might be worth upgrading them from the start if your gonna give them some stick. DTSwiss comp spoke are what i tend to build with, dont get any back.
Got a pace rc300 sat in the corner of my workshop, very nice bikes indeed, shame they stopped building them and started buying them from a far east factory.
Any marzocchi forks made within the last 3 years are not worth even thinking about, i have seen over 20 sets go back to the importer in 2008 and have sent a few sets back already this year. The quality has gone since they moved factory.
Rac for me, had them out twice last year and they have always been ok apart from when they refused to load my track car on to a low loader as they said my car was modified and 2 low.
