Cleaning tips to tide me over

Thanks! I'll take a look at that, but it'd have to be at the garage... since my car is down 16 floors and a 4-5 minute walk away, not even buckets are an option!!

Cleaning tips to tide me over

I have a (mainly) white S1, and this time of year is obviously not good for keeping it looking clean! I generally park in an underground car park as I live in a flat. It gets dusty here, but I can't do a proper clean as there are no taps nearby. To keep me going during the summer I use the...

    Aquawax and Polish

I only have some tiny, very minor swirls in the pillars of my car (which are black). The roof is fine, and all the white bits are fine (and the black at the back is a wrap). I'm happy with my car being shiny, then as and when I need to shuffle it on I can get everything properly sorted if need be.

    Aquawax and Polish

Thanks! I actually got a reply from AutoGlym themselves that says you can use one after the other. I did so, and it looked great. Aaaand then it rained and I had to drive it through a large, muddy puddle, and ruined all the good work! Hey ho!

    Aquawax and Polish

I have AG Aquawax, which has been working great for me so far. However, I have an S1 in white, with a black roof, and the black bits are showing some tiny, light scratches and swirls. As such, I want to give the thing a polish. I know there are other products out there, but I quite like AG...

    Karcher K2 deal?

That's about the best price I've found for it, too. That bundle seems to be unique for Halfords because elsewhere only does the car bits (e.g. the foam lance) in conjunction with the 'home' items (e.g. the patio attachment), which makes the whole pack more expensive.

Farecla G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt

So if you snow foam and rinse, you can just use this as a way of applying shampoo, in place of using a microfibre mitt (i.e. it's not an extra cleaning step)?

Farecla G3 Body Prep Clay Mitt

I was wondering the same - just instead of a microfibre mitt?

Pressure washer, is the Karcher K2 any good?

Oh no! Sorry to hear that. They definitely make out (and their pictures represent) that these are effectively new items. The curse can turn into a blessing, though: if you complain in the right way and tell them how disappointed you are, you may end up being sent a brand new one...

Pressure washer, is the Karcher K2 any good?

Are you talking about the foam nozzle (https://www.kaercher.com/uk/accessory/foam-nozzle-fj-6-26431470.html) or the built-in detergent tank?

Pressure washer, is the Karcher K2 any good?

Different kits come with different things. If you buy the 'car' version, it comes with the foam attachment, whereas the ordinary and the 'home' versions do not. Where they do not come with a foam lance, but do have a detergent tank (e.g. K4 non-car version), does this still work with snow foaming?

Pressure washer, is the Karcher K2 any good?

Yeah I am sorely tempted. £89 for a K4 compact with all the bits and bobs is pretty awesome. Does anyone know, can a built-in detergent bottle (where a pressure washer comes with one) do the job of a snow foam lance, i.e. delivering foam through the vario lance? Or do you have to not use that...

    Autoglym Aqua Wax

Washed my car (again) last night, and water definitely still 'beads' (second use of Aqua Wax ever), so I'm assuming that, one month in, it's still got some of the factory good stuff left! Though I am going through the phase of washing my car as much as I drive it it seems(!), so there's not that...

    Autoglym Aqua Wax

Okay, but I guess it's not going to be anything miraculous appearance-wise (e.g. shine). Again, maybe it's because it's new, but water already appeared to bead...

    Autoglym Aqua Wax

I have a brand new car that I, effectively, only use on weekends. So my cleaning plan is to keep it ticking over and then maybe every six months or so have a good old go with some clay, polish, wax and so on. In the meantime, I am washing by: pressure wash (or powerful hose - need to get a new...

Pressure washer, is the Karcher K2 any good?

Looking at this site, the prices are amazing. Does anyone have any experience buying from here, and if so are the items scuffed to pieces, broken, dirty and so on? I know it says they're given a once over etc. but surely they can't be that cheap if they're in mind condition?!

Swirls after cheap hand carwash! :(

@sidibear - do you know how to search for those kinds of garages? I've been trying to search around me, and have found one with a 'spray' (Google street view shows someone using it and it looks basically like a hose) which is a start, but it would mean lugging stuff down there...? Just wondered...
