I dip in and out lol - quiet day today so thought I'd pop in...
No mate, I got it running and sold it. Basically my old man told me either I get shot or he was going to scrap it as he was fed up with it being on his drive. Car was sold for the engine to go into a Corrado as far as I know. Ran...
With regards to the other noise coming from the rear whilst driving, could still be the haldex.
If not, possibly the diff, or maybe a wheel bearing. Not much else down there that should whinge in straight line driving.
Bit of a minefield this as it could be many things... Other possibles are MAF, dodgy lambda sensor, and as was mentioned before, the thermostat - but if it's the stat then you should see the car not getting up to temp on the dash.
I completely agree with Tuffty - how is a massive job like that ever worth it? By the time you've bought an engine, all other required parts etc to do the work, you could easily buy an AGU equipped A3.
Just for reference, the S3 engine doesn't have EGR. What looks like the EGR valve is the combi valve for the Sencondary Air Injection (SAI) system.
This is an emissions control device on cold start - it pumps air down to the cats to make them more efficient, more quickly. It's a piece of plop...
If it's shot then it's shot. There isn't a great deal you can do to service the OE DV. It's a diaphragm and once gone it's gone. How ever, for 19 quid, just buy another and replace.
Thats the only real way to prove it's the DV making the noise to be honest.
Yeah man, this seems a Looooong time ago now. I'm glad that the experiences listed here were useful to you leigh, as with your PM if you let me know what links are dead I'll see if I can hunt them out.
Seriously thinking about what to do with cars at the moment... My diesel is seeming a tad boring.
I like this lots. On the E46 M3 you could have the coding tweaked (only SMG models) so that the 'warm up lights' lit up as you came round the rev counter, or to all come on as a change light. Bummer I had a manual lol.
Something similar on dem dere Audis would be awesome :)
Yes mate, I wanted to get something cheapish and I only gave 5 G for it with low mileage for the year. Seemed like a plan. Me and the missus are actually getting married next year after being engaged forever, so once that's out of the way I plan to replace her with a 335D just like my brothers...
