Shame a quick fix didn't work for you, my unit in my A4 did the same thing which is why I took it apart to clean the laser. If you have not used copied disc's it maybe just very dirty and worth a go, hope you get it sorted.

I removed mine and clean the laser direct with cleaning fluid and cotton wool bud, worked for a short while but had to replace the laser in the end as they are not good at coping with copied disc's here is a link to the simply disc cleaner if you want to give that a go...
