    my s3 project build

No they are not OK to use. Your standard bolts are of a ‘dome’ type, most OEM’s use these. The aftermarket wheels use a ‘cone’ type. You need to get longer cone type bolts for your new wheels. I personally know of wheels falling off by using the incorrect types. Don’t risk it.

    My Belated build thread

Finally got myself the V8 BMW M3 I’d been promising myself for the last 3 years. I do miss the S3 sometimes, I learnt a lot from it and enjoyed constantly upgrading and spannering on it. Everytime I log in on here I hope to see it pop up with a thread. Although it failed its last MOT on...

    My Belated build thread

I sold my S3 over a year ago now but still pop in here occasionally. Initially we were both kind of on a similar path as eachother with the hybrid set-ups etc. I remember seeing that A3 for sale on here originally and thinking it was a bargain. Really enjoying watching how you progress...

can't demist the windows, steam coming out & foul smell. Any ideas/help

Run your finger down the inside of your windscreen and taste it. If its sweet tasting its antifreeze. Its poisonous so don’t be doing it a lot! At 170K miles you have nothing to lose by putting in some radweld or similar, although I would never normally recommend using it. You may get lucky...

can't demist the windows, steam coming out & foul smell. Any ideas/help

Heater matrix. The mist is antifreeze. I had a Leon Cupra R do exactly the same years ago. Luckily the warranty covered it. Its a dash out job to change I believe.

    AEM watermeth - oddity

I remember the frustration of searching for information on it, hence why I i rigged it upto my windscreen in the end to test it. Mine was exactly the same as yours so I wouldnt worry too much about it. Mine was set at 12psi and was full chat at 18psi IIRC.

    AEM watermeth - oddity

My AEM kit did exactly the same. The external LED would go off on a long hard pull. To confirm it was still pumping - for testing purposes I routed a hose from my additional solenoid in the engine bay onto the windscreen and cable tied it to the wiper arm. I took the car for a run, and did...

Anyone fitted an electric brake vac pump to the S3 , BAM [yet ?]

I had this exact same problem. Pretty frightening when it happens to you. I replaced the pipe from the inlet to the brake booster with a new genuine item complete with check valve. Problem sorted. The old one had a minor split behind the heat shielding.

    Keep or Sell ?

Sell it. Life is too short to not try other cars. The 8L S3 is never going to be worth much. They have no motorsport heiritage, were not groundbreaking when released, and were never known for being a particularly good drivers car. Yes we all like them, myself included but don’t have visions of...
