    NZ S1 owners?

Hi s1n3r There aren’t very many of us in NZ, about 30 odd plus about 12 from overseas, mainly Japan. We’re too small to form a club (and too spread out). Best thing to do is join the Audi RS and S Owners New Zealand Facebook page. They occasionally have get togethers.

    Ordered Japanese S1

The car looks very clean. Enjoy. Any chance of posting the rego to add to my list? Even the first 4 letters would help.

    Ordered Japanese S1

Hi Labern. I'm also from Auckland and have a NZ new S1. I've been trying to track all the cars here and the list is up to 25 NZ new. All are 5 doors but the spec level seems to vary from car to car. There have been two 3 door cars advertised by import dealers and I presume these are ex Japan...

    Shifting Clunk/Bang under full load

It's probably the traction control. Makes a terrible racket when it kicks in. Had this happen on my previous A1 and thought something had broken. Even stopped to have a look and everything looked fine.

Audi S1 and rear bumper ripple

Mine has a small ripple, about the same place. I'm sure someone else has mentioned this before. Probably a standard "feature".

    Strange noise

Try putting the airconditioner on and see if the noise disappears. My airco pump makes a noise at idle sometimes but never when it's at the dealers (of course).

    Audi S1 or MK7 GTI?

I found the GTI quite sterile (only available here with a DSG box which might not have helped) and did nothing for me. The S1 is like a rollerskate and puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. Space isn't a necessity so the small boot doesn't worry me. And GTI's are common - the S1 is not.

Hi Rockall Have the same issue so very interested in how this lasts. David

    Gearbox issue

Ifcrule1972 - if you can cleanly and quickly shift between 1st and 2nd then it sounds as though you don't have a problem. I've had the problem since day 1.

    Gearbox issue

After Rockall's post above, I've been adding a pause between shifts into 2nd. For my gearbox, the best way is to pause once the shift into 2nd has just started to feel some resistance. Also have to agree with willh92 - the synchro isn't as refined as it could be. Other manufacturers don't have...

    Gearbox issue

My S1 is back from the dealers and they said that the gearbox is fine and there's nothing wrong with it. I think that DomH is right - they all do this. Will just have to live with it and put it down as a "feature" of the car. Overall, the S1 is still a fabulous car.

    Gearbox issue

From 1st to 2nd it clicks into gear as though the synchro cones are warn. You can hear it go through and it needs a firmer hand to get it into 2nd than the other gears. It's definitely better when it's hot. Booked in for a service on Thursday so will see if they can fix it.

    Gearbox issue

Hi fellow S1 owners. My gearbox has always been notchy going from 1st to 2nd gear. It's going in for it's annual service in a few weeks time. It's still under warranty so I'll ask them to have a look at it. Has anyone else had a similar problem and if so, was it resolved and how? David

Love the look of your car. Has it been lowered with wheel spaces? If so, how did you do this?
