So my -07 A3 got hit yesterday and the front end got damaged. Bumper/grille will need to be replaced but Im having trouble finding any S-line bumpers for sale. Im guessing its a lot of work to do a front end conversion to the 08- with LED headlights?
I'll be doing it at work so I will have a lift and all the tools needed unless there are some special tools needed for it. I figured it would be a pretty big job but I just don't know how big since I cant find too much on it online
I've been keeping an eye on my oil consumption and it has been going up quite a bit lately, and after having my car on a lift it looks like its leaking between the gearbox(DSG) and the engine..
Does anyone have any experience replacing the seal?
How big of a job is it? I'm at roughly 108k...
A good and easy way to avoid snapping plugs is getting the engine hot before replacing them. I usually try to drive for 15-25 mins with lower gears and higher rpm before attempting to get them out. After some bad experiences (damn mercedes and their long plugs) I now do this on every car
With different fault codes each time I would say that it's a electrical problem. Wiring/connector problem somewhere, ECU, injectors or dash wiring/connectors maybe? It's very hard to guess without any hands-on experience on such a complicated problem
So you replaced the glow plugs?
If that didn't help I would get it checked for any fault codes
Could also still be the battery unless you actually stress tested it?
If not it might very well be something to do with fuel injection or timing as stated above.
Plugs are a good place to start since they aren't very expensive and easy to replace
If it has the original battery there is a fairly high chance that it will be on its last legs by now too.
It could be the combination of a few bad plugs and a weak battery making the problem worse since you...
Any idea how long it has been since the glow plugs have been replaced? Plugs would cause that kind of symptoms after they go bad. Also how old is your battery?
I'm trying to diagnose a cruise control problem on a '07 A3 manual. The cruise control only works on about 1/3 startups and there are no fault codes so I think that eliminates clutch/brake switch.
I had VCDS plugged in while on a test drive and when it doesn't work the control module still...
I had my bonnet, roof and rear bumper resprayed last summer and you can't see the difference between resprayed and original paint. Just make sure you go to someone who knows what they are doing and it will be fine.
Hmm probably something else causing that then. Usually it goes off after doing it once or driving for a bit after reconnecting the battery. Hopefully its the ABS sensor causing that too then. I don't think I've ever seen abs sensor do that but anything is possible with audis I guess :playful:
ABS and ESP work together so that is very likely true for the ABS and traction control light,
however I dont think that should cause the power steering light too:blink:
Does the steering feel normal and have you tried the locking to each side yet?
Turn the wheels to the lock position both ways and see if that helps. Traction control and power steering are normal after a battery disconnect and they need to be calibrated by turning the wheels
