    Dark side

Depends on whether or not the car had Tech pack, which has the Harmon Kardon system. I have it in mine and it's superb.

    Dark side

Thanks pal. I don't really need the space of a touring, this was big enough. It is alot bigger than older F30 3 series, similar size to the previous 5 series. It certainly does go like a bullet, and the 6 pot has a fantastic roar to it, that certainly a smile on my face. I will do a review at...

    Dark side

Thanks guys, Yeh the new 3 series is cracker. Even the interior is well designed mm throughout with real leather, not your usual cheapy alternatives. It’s a whole different world to the 8V.

    Dark side

Been quite a while since I’ve been on here, due to being busy with work and life in general, but good to see this boards is still full of life and helpful as always. I’ve however moved over to the dark side over the weekend, to a BMW 330d. I fancied something bigger and a bit more...

    Loss of acceleration/ power

Two prime candidates, it’s either thrust bearing or flywheel. Do you get any vibration with the car at idle? If so then it’s definently the flywheel. Gearbox needs to come off to diagnose this properly I’m afraid.

S3 quad exhaust fitment on tdi

On a normal A3 (non Quattro)yes the back box won’t fit, as the spare wheel store is deeper than a S3, as the latter is a Quattro. You will require a custom exhaust it just straight pipe using the S3 tailpipes. However on a 184 Quattro the back box is a straight fit, however you’ll require a...

    Blown Turbo Advice

Check ECP though they might not stick one for the EU yet. If you’re buying from Ebay, make sure it’s from respectable manufacturer. The OE supplier is Garretts. Alternatively look for one from a low mileage salvage vehicle. The savings you can make are decent, for a product that’s virtually...

    Suggestion for audi a3

I agree the handling on the AWD is way better, though does require a bit more maintenance with the Haldex oil for example. Having driven both the GTD and A3 184 with AWD, the Audi outshines the golf by miles in terms or road handling.

    Gearbox Oil

Well the OP didn’t state in his post whether his car was a manual or an automatic, so I can only assume you either knew beforehand he had a manual car from previous dealings, or just assumed he had a manual which I wouldn’t do.

    Gearbox Oil

I repair cars from ranging from engine rebuilds, to servicing, so I’m sure I don’t need your sarcastic remarks. I know Audi don’t make the oil but when it comes to gearbox fluids, better to be safe than sorry. Also why would I assume he has a manual, when most posts on here are regarding DSG...

    Suggestion for audi a3

You can get the same engine (184) in the A3 with the additional bonus of having 4 wheel drive. Having owned one of these it’s one hell of car, both in terms in terms of reliability and performance, thought not the best on economy at times. Personally I would go for the A3 2.0 TDI in the 184...

    Gearbox Oil

Hi Adam, You don’t mention whether your car is manual or automatic, but I would stick with the genuine oil. Gearbox is one of those things that if it goes wrong, it will be costly. The official capacity is around 7 litres, though in my experience it’s always taken around 4.5-5 litres to fill...

    2010-a3-1-6-tdi-overheating.

It could be your thermostat. A good way to test is remove the thermostat from the car, and get a bowl full and of hot kettle water and throw the thermostat in. You should see it open after a short while. If it doesn’t that’s your problem.

    Rear shocks - A3 Sportback TDi S-Line

For the high quality stuff I would stick to the likes of Sachs, Bilstein, Meyle who are the OE manufacturers for a number of brands. Have you checked what the Sachs ones will cost you from the likes of ECP? I fitted these to my car last year, and are exactly the sane as the original part.

    A3 8v facelift conversion guide

Hi Adam A and C at the end of part numbers on the inner lights, depending on the side you need. You don’t need to buy the adapters, as you can modify your existing wiring to fit the new Dynamic lights. .

    New member, new S3 owner.

yes it can be done, but on the 8P the bonnet and wings are also different. You then have to change the mirrors too, as the facelift wings do not have indicators, they are located in side mirrors.
