Regular servicing should see you (mostly) alright. You can only look after it as best you can, you don't know how it was treated before you bought it. Maybe keep it as is for a little while until anything 'develops'. Once you are comfortable or more confident then you can think about remapping...
I read about this before I had a bluetooth dongle fitted in mine and alas I have a similar issue - I think its called 'alternator whine'.
Apparently a resistor fitted inline ground iirc would help but I don't have any more info as I never did it. Hope that helps to get you started...

IIRC relay 107 (or 109) whichever one which is responsible for the glow plugs will most likely be tired. If you open it up it will likely be dull copper and not shiny like new. My fix was a £1...

I always find that an insurance company's sister company is cheaper than the main, I sometimes use that as haggle. Price comparison sites are a good way to go but double check policies are like for like.
