Feeling very lucky so far, no sign of debris in the oil suction gauze. Proof will be in the pudding when I get to putting it all back together. But feeling given the apparent neglect of previous owner(s) a full rebuild in the future might be wise.
Managed to get the chain off and what was left of the tensioner, looks like someome had previously changed the chain but left the tensioner which looks to be the original. Checked and triple checked all the timing and doesnt look like it skipped at all so hopefully a save of sorts.
Get it running again, plucking up the courage to drop the sump to investigate oil pump and pick up.
Had considered selling up or breaking, but cant bring myself to do it, so time to roll the sleeves up.

After the light illuminated there was no sudden power loss, just sounded like a bag of spanners, have done a scan also and have no codes for what its worth.
The car to the best of my knowledge and as far as I can tell from its history has not had any major engine work before. Its done 175k and has full service history including belts etc.
But no issues prior to me doing the oil change was running perfectly well before with no oil pressure warnings.

Have gone to tackle the job and now think the leak is unrelated to the gasket.
Have gone to remove the nuts and two of the studs have backed out with the nut (one where the leak was coming from) as they are seized together, luckily not in the head, have some replacement studs and nuts already...
