I had a rattle (sort of 'zzzzing' noise) that took me weeks to find - eventually located it to the push button on the end of the cruise control stalk. Cured it by running a really small bead of black silicone sealant around it. Still works fine.
Mine's S tronic too and our B7 S4 Cab is Auto (Torque Converter) but I think a number of people are concerned by the horror stories of the S tronic and Multitronic 'boxes going wrong (perhaps mostly historical now) and the cost of repair.
I bought a Black Edition Avant Quattro (2.0 TFSI) and would suggest the first thing to decide is whether you really want S tronic or Multitronic or not. If you don't really want either then go Manual. If you do want Auto then make sure the transmission (and the rest of the car) has the correct...
Will either of these be suitable?

Thought I'd post this for anybody else who is being driven nuts by a dashboard noise from an unusual source. Best described as a sort of cheap plastic 'zzzzing' noise, it started about a month ago and I was convinced it was coming from the plastic instrument panel but couldn't stop it by...
You're right about TPS - fortunately I have an account with them but I believe even the Audi Main Dealer price is less than that eBay price. My MMI indicator is saying 'Oil level OK' with the bar graphic showing max. whilst the dipstick is showing marginally over the max. line.
I also have a B8.5 2.0 TFSI and have found exactly as you have said. Only difference is I got mine from TPS for £20.86 inc VAT - so a saving over the eBay price. Many thanks for the information.
Do a quote on-line on the Aviva website. They're not on comparison sites but were the cheapest I could find a couple of weeks ago - £217 on a 2012 2.0 TFSI Black Edition Quattro Avant (very similar circumstances as OP except 57years old). Looks like a very good policy and you can pay monthly for...
Hi SCF91, Did you find the answer to your question? I have just bought a late 2012 A4 Avant with the AMI port in the glovebox so also searching for the same info.
It certainly does have a filter and it should be changed along with the oil. Use only a genuine filter from Audi or ZF (the manufacturers of the gearbox). I've read stories of pattern ones, from Euro Car Parts for example, causing problems.
At 3.5 hours labour plus parts (it was a bit more involved than just cut out old, weld in new. He has to weld in short stubs to move the Cats back slightly to create room for welding the flexis'), I'd say that was ****** reasonable - especially given that a place more local to me quoted £272...
Had the driver's side (V6 engine) flexi joint in front of the main Cat. Converter start blowing about a month ago. Didn't sound too bad to start with, but quickly got a lot worse and ended up sounding horrendous. Turns out both sides had gone - literally cracked apart. Apparently this is quite a...
If the battery can't hold its charge even for two days when disconnected from the car then that might actually be the problem. Strange things can happen when the voltage goes down...........
Absolutely right to change the transmission fluid. This Audi thing of 'sealed for life' is a nonsense, especially given that ZF themselves, the manufacturers of the tiptronic gearbox, recommend a change of fluid at a specific interval (forget at what miles now but it's on their website). Also, I...
