"1. The oil filter on my car is the replacement element type in a plastic canister fitted with a drain valve. I bought the special drain tube but couldn't turn it by hand sufficiently tightly to get more than a trickle of oil to drain out. It looks to me as though the thread in the canister is...
ah - I though I had a problem with the alarm/fob (my old B6 had one click)
but it is a "feature" - seems weird when all the doors lock after 5mph anyway
Imo batteries are best bought online
I use "the battery megastore", v quick delivery and all the makes, Varta, Bosch etc available
And a lot cheaper than halfords and better quality too
Ps how much is a map, roughly?
from my "basic" understanding of Air Con issues, the compressor (which is actually responsible for creating the "cooling" effect) is run from a belt that is driven from the engine (is the belt still attached? my one on my old 2.5TDi came off - a simply pulley and belt replacement job, and back...

not only did I not know anything re the "Special Edition" - I don't think the guy I bought it off did either (he was selling on behalf of his recently deceased father, so did not really know too much about the car)
I only realised when I tried to match the stated KW's printed on the...
orthanks for the info
a clarification though - two tone leather wasn't a deal breaker, but leather was, if I was honest I think the black interior of my TDI looked nicer
in fact I was surprised how many I looked at did not have leather or even a central armrest!!!
but heated and memory seats...
it obviously has the two tone black/grey leather (a deal breaker for me when I was looking for a 2.0T) - armrest, DIS, Bose labelled speakers/sub woofer and rear parking sensors (which came as a surprise!!!)
the only thing it does not have (in my limited knowledge of the options available)...
I think I have replaced my B6 2.5TDI with a B7 2.0tfsi special edition - I did not really know they existed tbh - but as per you post above it seems to be a MK1
I am not sure the seller did either
is has the WUA chassis number BUL engine code and the Quattro GmbH sticker by the air con pipes...
okay - so the cost for a new pump etc don't make it economical to repair (for me)
so created spare and repairs entry

well looks like the high pressure fuel pump failure
had the dreaded 1 01318 - Control Module for Injection Pump (J399)
car started briefly on Easy Start, so looking like a new pump
ok, got my VCDS-lite working
the reason it would not connect before was fuse 12 blown (diagnostics) , the AA guy did not spot it!!
anyway I did not have too much time as the car is parked at the garage - but the initial(interesting) fault was
Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
17978 - P1570...
mmm, yes that looks like the high pressure pump - I fear so too
the garage are going to try and look at the codes on the ECU tomorrow - although I still can't read the ECU with my version of VCDS lite
but I must admit I have not tried for a while - it is on an old laptop
Hi. Yes he did - but just the ones in the panel at the end of the dash, not sure if there are any more
Its a good point will check in the manual
Thanks
my car just failed yesterday (52 plate)
I had been driving it during the day - no issues what so ever
then it seemed to loose all power - pulled over, turned the engine off
then nothing - turns over but does not start
I am presuming it is the high pressure fuel pump !!
although the AA man...
I have a similar problem (same model) - it goes into a pronounced limp mode - at around 40MPH (and accelerating)
really noticeable when pulling out onto a dual carriageway
suspect sticking VNT
I just drive accordingly - been like this for the last 120K - lol
lol, yes - the one on the right is simply the "middle" bit of the one on the left
it actually comes with a plastic cover that clips on to protect it from all the road grit
and it has definitely fixed my issue
it is amazing the state it was in tbh as the car gets used pretty much everyday
I have a 2001 2.5 Quattro,
As has been said with a bit of spit an polish, it looks like a stylish modern car - I still love the shape tbh
Mine has done 212k, and still drives really well
A few bills recently - rear wheel bearing and front driveshaft, but that's all
I had the belts (and...
